2023 is off to a stellar start for Dolly de Leon.

In the first two weeks of the year alone, the 53-year-old actress has swept through multiple, international award-giving bodies and ceremonies.

The now internationally-acclaimed De Leon made history at the 80th Golden Globes Awards as the first Filipino to receive a Golden Globes nomination. The actress was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her breakout performance in Ruben í–stlund’s “Triangle of Sadness.” In the Palme d’Or-winning film, De Leon plays a toilet manager-turned-domineering-captain over a group of survivors after pirates overtook their yacht.

Her performance in the film also received recognition from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), with the actress longlisted for the “Best Supporting Actress” award. De Leon also got a nod from the London Critics’ Circle Film Awards and is nominated as the “Supporting Actress of the Year.”

British Vogue also named De Leon as one of their “30 Most Famous Stars” in their Hollywood Portfolio Feature, amongst some of the brightest stars in the industry right now, like Cate Blanchett, Michelle Yeoh, Viola Davis, and more. In an exclusive interview with the fashion magazine, De Leon was asked what the best piece of advice she has received:

“Always remember that the work can never be taken away from you. Maybe I’ll do another project after this or this will never happen again, but the work will never go away.”

De Leon also earned the Best Supporting Performance award at the Los Angeles Films Critics Association Awards last December 2022, in which she tied with Ke Huy Quan of “Everything Everywhere All At Once.” She is expected to attend the awarding ceremony on January 14 to give a speech.

De Leon has starred in local films in the past including “History ni Ha” (2021), “Verdict” (2019), and “Hintayan ng Langit” (2018).
