Chavit Singson is investing over P18 million in a new film aimed at boosting the morale of men and women in uniform. The former Ilocos Sur governor is stepping into the world of cinema, teaming up with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the PNP Officers Ladies Club (OLC) Foundation, Inc. for the film “Beyond the Call of Duty.”
A tribute to the bravery, sacrifice, and camaraderie of police officers and firefighters, “Beyond the Call of Duty” stars Martin del Rosario, Martin Escudero, Maxine Trinidad, Paulo Gumabao as dedicated public servants. The movie starts with three friends — Ana, Daniel and Ricky — who are bound by deep friendship but destined for different paths in service to the nation. Ana and Ricky enter the PNP Academy (PNPA), while Daniel pursues a career as a firefighter, embracing the dangers of saving lives in the face of disaster.
Though their professions take them in different directions, their unshakable bond keeps them united through life-or-death situations, from intelligence operations to battling criminals and extinguishing raging fires. At its heart, the film is a story about standing together for a cause greater than oneself.
The film is set apart by its genuine connection to real law enforcers, with input from the PNP, BFP, PPSC, and the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc. Working closely with Singson’s production team, Pinoyflix Films and Entertainment Production, Inc., the filmmakers have ensured that the story authentically portrays the challenges and triumphs of police officers and firefighters. They partnered with Singson’s production team, Pinoyflix Films and Entertainment Production, Inc., to ensure the film accurately portrays the challenges and triumphs of police officers and firefighters.
“This movie is not just entertainment-it’s a salute to our modern-day heroes. We want to showcase their sacrifices, courage, and the unspoken bonds that keep them going,” said Singson.
“Beyond the Call of Duty” wants to show the real people behind the uniforms — the ones who run toward danger when everyone else is running away.
Chavit and his daughter, Stephanie, are the executive producers, while Jose R. Olinares Jr., or Direk JR is the film director and supervising producer.
Direk JR is proud of the film’s authenticity.
“The storyline is about those killed and wounded in operation. These are the stories of the casualties at ipapakita paano nakakakuha ng tulong, sa burial, etc. Pumupunta ba sila sa pulitiko?” he said.
“We work closely with the PNP for an accurate portrayal, from the haircut to the uniform, etc. PNP Chief Marbil even appears as himself in the film,” the director added.
The film also made careful choices in casting, with the goal of staying true to the nature of law enforcement and firefighting personnel. Maxine Trinidad, for example, showed her dedication by agreeing to a buzzcut for her role. “Iilan lang ang gusto magpakalbo na babae,” said Direk JR.
Chavit is confident that his investment in the film will make a lasting impact. “Gusto kong tumulong sa movie industry. Gusto ko mapakita na maraming kapulisan ang role model, hindi masasamang pulis.”
A special role in the movie is played by Chavit’s son, Christopher, who humorously shared, “Bida na po ako dito,” to which his father jokingly replied, “Akala ko ikaw ikukulong.”
While “Beyond the Call of Duty” features the high-stakes action of thrilling chases and dramatic rescues, it is the quieter moments—the missed family dinners, the tough decisions, and the enduring friendships—that resonate most deeply. The film serves as a reminder that public servants are ordinary people performing extraordinary acts of service and sacrifice, often without recognition.
Fifteen percent of the movie’s earnings will directly benefit the PNP OLC Foundation, Inc., which supports the families of PNP officers. The film also enjoys support from the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the BFP.
