THE Sessionistas are back together.
For the third time — Ice Seguerra, Juris, Nyoy Volante, Sitti, Kean Cipriano, Princess Velasco and Duncan Ramos — harmonize on “Love Sessionistas: The Repeat,” happening on October 18 at The Theatre at Solaire.
And just like their previous shows last February 8 and April 4, the third time is a hit, with few tickets available.
What makes the show click? Basically, it’s the bond the seven artists have nurtured over the years, starting with their stint in “ASAP” pre-pandemic.
Led by Ice, who also directs the shows, with wife Liza Diño as executive producer, the Sessionistas are not only in harmony on stage but also off.
At their recent press con at Noctos Music Bar, the seven admitted that they consider each other not just friends but already family, good-naturedly ribbing each other about their personal lives and sharing in their joys as well as losses.
Although he has been busy with stage shows and concerts lately, Ice remains very excited about “Love Sessionistas.”
“Kasi, honestly, just the fact na magkakasama lang kami, masaya na,” the OPM icon said.
“Pero ito, since nagagawa pa namin ‘yung sobrang mahal namin, which is pagkanta, tapos nakikita pa namin na ‘yung mga taong nanonood sa amin ay hindi lang nag-e-enjoy pero bumabalik at bumabalik.
“Sobrang nakatataba ng puso, kasi matagal na ring — before this concert — wala nang Sessionistas, ‘di ba? So, ilang years na rin iyon na wala kaming something na ginagawa together. So it just feels so good na after a long time, after ten years… kahit noong pagbalik namin, andoon pa rin sila (fans). Ramdam na ramdam mo pa rin ‘yung pagkasabik nila. So, masarap lang sa pakiramdam.
“Kasi, kung gaano kami kasabik mag-perform as a group, ganoon din sila kasabik sa amin.”
Sitti, Princess echo Ice’s sentiments that even after a long pause, the Sessionistas’ fans and their camaraderie remain.
“Kasi parang after ten years, parang walang nangyari… ten years na separation. So, ‘yung friendship, nandoon pa rin. ‘Yung barahan, nandoon pa rin.
“And ang sarap i-share na hindi lang ‘yung music namin individually and collectively as a group, but also the friendship that we have. I think that’s what makes ‘Love, Sessionistas; special.”
“I personally feel very fortunate to be part of Sessionistas…Talagang the friendship, all the experiences we had together, the seasons of our lives na parang nagtugma-tugma,” said Princess.
Nyoy said it was an easy yes whenever he is offered the chance to reunite with his Sessionistas family. And this repeat will not be the same as the first two. “When we got the news na parang, ‘Ohh we’re doing it again!’ And everytime we get that, the information na may isa pang ‘Love, Sessionistas,’ we’re always very happy,” said the concert artist and stage actor.
“But I would also like to inform everyone that hindi siya the same show. It’s going to be something new everytime.
“The first two, may kinalikot kami. May bago na namang gagawin. And honestly, ayoko sana na may bagong sayaw pero may bago na naman daw sayaw, sabi ni Direk (Ice)!”
