The many roles of Sarah Chang

To those who know her personally, Sarah Chang is a cheerful, down-to-earth mom, wife and friend. But beyond that, she’s a powerhouse – an international action star, producer, director, Wushu champion and entrepreneur.

With numerous achievements across entertainment and business, she continues to inspire as a multi-talented woman balancing family life and global success.

Her journey has led her to the Philippines, where she has found a second home with her husband, Filipino filmmaker and entrepreneur Vincent Soberano. After filming “Blood Hunters” and “The Trigonal” in Bataan and Bacolod, she fell in love with the country, its people, and lifestyle.

“Filipinos are the coolest, easiest to get along folks I’ve ever met,” she shared.

She praised the local talent for their skill, cost-efficiency, and English fluency, which makes production smoother. While cultural differences can sometimes cause misunderstandings on set, she’s always found Filipino crews warm, adaptable, and eager to deliver great work. Her experience has been overwhelmingly positive: “They have never failed me in all of my productions here.”

As for working with local actors, Chang said they’re not only talented professionals but also bring fun and laughter to the set. Outside of work, being a mom remains her top priority. “I don’t want to be an absentee parent,” she said, grateful for the support system around her that helps her stay present for her children while still managing a full career.

Aside from film, Sarah and her husband are heavily invested in real estate in both the Philippines and Taiwan. They focus on acquiring undervalued properties and turning them into income-generating rentals. With a strong team and solid market instincts, their real estate ventures are thriving, giving them both financial flexibility and time to explore other interests.

One of Sarah’s recent passions is skincare – she’s now a distributor for South Korea’s Riman brand. Having seen the benefits herself, she’s building a business in Taiwan and expanding into the Philippines. For her, success in any venture comes from surrounding herself with the right people and always staying open to learning: “That was my film school, really – on-the-job training. So yes, my not-so-secret secret weapon is my team.”

To aspiring creatives and entrepreneurs, Chang offers practical advice: watch the markets, budget wisely and invest in assets that grow your money.

“Simply put, make your money make more money. The world economy is now in limbo and we don’t really know where things are heading financially. For the sake of your family and kids, be more mindful of finances and strategic with your money.”
