FOR the second time in a week, La Luna Café, the hundred-year-old ancestral house turned into a family restaurant in Hagonoy, Taguig, hosted another intimate event, this time for 26-year-old singer-actress Emmanuelle “Emman” Vera who is representing Taguig City in Miss World Philippines 2021.
Emman is loved by fans for her incredible talents. She has been composing her own music since she was 12 and has debuted with her own album in 2012. People have enjoyed watching her on various TV shows like “Bagani,” “Wildflower,” and “La Luna Sangre,” and her beautiful voice in her song renditions on YouTube.
The event also celebrated the artistry of Taguig’s local creatives and crafts people, collectively known as the Taguig Designers Council (TDC). Emman wore an elegant gown by TDC president Baby Frisnedy Kruz.
As a proud Taguigueña, Emman shared her gratitude to be a part of TDC’s event, recognizing the designers as the heart and soul of pageantry. She is ecstatic to represent the Probinsyudad of Taguig as she competes for the Miss World Philippines 2021 title, actually her first venture in pageantry and on the national level at that.
“Our probinsyudad has strived to preserve and incorporate nature amid its urban jungles and business district. It has balanced advancement with preservation, and is both bustling and laid back. The local government also genuinely cares for the welfare of every individual, which is something I experienced when I contracted COVID-19,” said the 26-year-old Taguigeña. “One of my favorite parts, however, is its commitment to sustainability and countless eco-friendly initiatives.”
As an artist, music has been inextricable and integral to her, and has played a big role in sharing to the world what she’s passionate about. “Growing up with music, I’ve never been able to imagine myself doing anything else, and (as a young girl, I) would envision myself becoming a child recording artist and entertainer!”
Choosing to join Miss World Philippines is a way to elevate her platform to bring more awareness to issues that truly matter. “To be honest, I doubted myself at first when the idea of joining a pageant was broached to me. But after my initial trainings at Kagandahang Flores (KF) camp under the keen and detailed supervision of head trainer Rodgil Flores, I quickly realized how these aspiring beauty queens are molded to become the best versions of themselves in all aspects: communication skills, caring for your community, fitness, pasarela, your talent… everything. Pageants empower women.””
Her advocacy in line with the pageant’s “beauty with a purpose” mission, Emman chose to focus on the most vulnerable members of society: children, “especially those who have been sold to modern slavery by members of their family, in many cases, their parents themselves!” Emman acknowledges the fact that this is a very serious issue. “In the shelters that we visit, the children do not have a concept of trust nor safe homes which have otherwise became danger zones,” said Emman.
“These are the reasons why i chose to rally against the exploitation of children. I decided to speak about those that we do not speak about to be able to give a voice to the voiceless and, hopefully, to be able to help the helpless.”
The event was made possible through the efforts of Taguig Representative Lani Cayetano alongside Taguig Councilor Pammy Zamora.
