THE Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has unveiled the first four official entries for its highly anticipated 49th edition, scheduled to take place in December.
The MMFF Selection Committee, headed by veteran producer Jesse Ejercito, announced the four entries last Monday, July 10.
The first official entry, “A Mother and Son’s Story,” produced by Cineko Productions, Inc., is a poignant drama featuring Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards. Nuel Naval is set to direct the film, with a script by Mel Mendoza-Del Rosario.
Quantum Films’ “(K)ampon” is a horror thriller to be directed by King Palisoc from the script of Dodo Dayao. It will star Beauty Gonzales and Derek Ramsay.
“Penduko” by Sari Sari Network will feature Cristine Reyes and Matteo Guidicelli. Director and scriptwriter Jason Paul Laxamana will take charge of the fantasy action film.
Lastly, ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. presents “Rewind,” a romance drama that will pair real-life couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes. Mae Cruz-Alviar will direct the project, with the script by Enrico Santos.
The deadline for the remaining four official entries for the MMFF 2023 will be on September 29.
