“It feels so good to be back home,” shared Sandara Park, the beloved former 2NE1 member, during the press conference for TV5 and MLD Entertainment PH’s highly anticipated reality show “Be the NEXT: 9 Dreamers,” held on January 20 at the Novotel Tent in Quezon City.
“This is my second home, and it’s always wonderful to be here,” she added with a warm smile, expressing her gratitude for returning to the Philippines, where she first found fame.
In this new chapter of her career, Sandara takes on the role of main host for “Be the NEXT: 9 Dreamers,” a talent reality show designed to discover and nurture the next generation of global K-pop idols. The competition will follow the journey of nine talented “dreamers,” selected from an initial pool of 75 contestants, as they compete for a chance to shine on the international stage.
“I’m really excited to witness the rise of another P-pop superstar,” Sandara shared. “As we saw in the AVP, the audience will play a significant role in this journey alongside our mentors and judges.”
Reflecting on her own experience, Sandara expressed deep gratitude for her beginnings in Philippine showbiz. “I was influenced by Filipino artists and music during my time here, so being able to give back and guide these dreamers feels heartwarming and fulfilling,” she said, acknowledging the role the Philippines has played in her own success.
A humble star, Sandara took a moment to thank the loyal fans who’ve supported her since her Star Circle Quest days in 2004. “I’m excited and thankful to everyone who supported me during my Star Circle Quest days,” she said. “Now it’s time for these dreamers to shine on stage, and we’ll do our best to help them reach their dreams. Please support and love them.”
“Be the NEXT: 9 Dreamers” will follow nine contestants through a grueling journey of training, growth, and performance, with guidance from an esteemed panel of mentors, including AB6IX’s Park Woojin, Bang Ye-dam, HORI7ON’s Vinci, Hyebin (formerly of MOMOLAND), renowned choreographer Bae Wan Hee, and acclaimed producer Bullseye.
As the host, Sandara promises to be a comforting presence for the contestants, offering advice, encouragement, and even a shoulder to lean on. “I’ll be like an ‘ate,’ ready to give a hug and a shoulder to cry on,” she said.
The show is set to premiere on February 8, airing Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. and Sundays at 8:15 p.m., with weekday catch-ups at 11:30 p.m. on TV5.
