Actress Rufa Mae Quinto is in mourning following the death of her husband, Trevor Magallanes, who passed away last week in the United States. The couple share a daughter, Athena.
In a statement posted on social media on July 31, Rufa Mae expressed her grief, saying, “I’m deeply saddened by this development. Hope u give us time to mourn his loss, especially my daughter. Just pray for us that we will get thru this by the help of God.”
The comedienne flew to the US with Athena to be with Trevor’s family and to gather more information regarding the circumstances of his passing. She urged the public to refrain from speculation and to wait for verified information to be released by her or Trevor’s immediate family.
“We are still gathering factual information about his death. Even us or his immediate family are still verifying what happened,” she wrote. “Please give us respect & pray for us in this time of trial.”
In an August 2 update, Quinto clarified she and Trevor were still legally married at the time of his death. “Mag-asawa pa din kami ni Trevor, walang nag-file sa amin ng annulment,” she wrote. “Ako po ay widow/byuda na.”
She also thanked friends, fans and fellow celebrities for their condolences and prayers. “Lord, please give me and Athena our daughter strength,” she added. “Ang sakit.”
In a more recent post, Quinto once again appealed for privacy, particularly for the sake of their daughter. “Please refrain from spreading unverified information that she can access through social media,” she wrote. “Let us just remember the good times that we had with my husband, Trev.”
Rufa Mae and Trevor were married on November 25, 2016, in the Philippines.
