Rhian Ramos is very grateful to be back on primetime in a fully fleshed out role in GMA’s new primetime series, “Royal Blood.”

The 32-year-old actress is playing Margaret Royales-Castor, one of the children of the wealthy Gustavo Royales. Gustavo is murdered, leaving the people around him, including Margaret, a suspect. The other children are played by Mikael Daez, who plays Kristoff; Lianne Valentin, who plays Beatrice; and Dingdong Dantes, their half-brother named Napoy Terrazo.

Rhian’s Margaret has a touch of mystery as she’s the one character who keeps a pet snake in the show.

“In fairness naman hindi ako takot sa mga animals especially when their handlers tell me naman na they aren’t feeling aggressive right now, or hindi sya bagong kain, or hindi sya bagong change ng balat, okay lang sya hawakan,” said Rhian at the “Royal Blood” press con last Friday at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.

Is the snake vital to her character in “Royal Blood?”

“Actually the snake does play a pivotal part in our series which will be revealed later on pa, in week three maybe,” said Rhian.

“I can tell our writers really thought of our characters 360 [degrees] – as in each one buong buo ‘yung kwento – may childhood, may backstory. There are things during scenes that only we , the actors, know. They tell us kung anong pinanggalingan, kasi hindi pa sya nare-reveal sa kwento or dun sa part na ‘yun, so it’s nice. We feel well guided, tapos napaka specific, and I can really say that each one of us took the time to really get to know our roles and our characters and every time that we’re in a scene together, everyone always has something to contribute na kahit wala sya dun sa script, we go ‘Pwede ba eto yung ginagawa ko habang sinasabi ko to? kasi feeling ko eto ‘yung nararamdaman ko ano…’

“So it’s really such a collaboration, from beginning to end. And especially when we have a very big scene, it becomes very exciting kasi nga each person is so spontaneous, may mga things na akala mo kahit ipractice mo pa ‘yung eksena parang ‘di nakakatulong kasi akala mo eto ‘yung mangyayari pero once na nandun na kami, everyone takes a life of their own.”

So does Gustavo die of a snakebite?

“I can answer you for sure that no, he doesn’t,” she said with a laugh.
