While the pandemic clearly sidelined singer Reuben Laurente from performing in the high seas, where he has been entertaining passengers aboard international luxury cruise ships for more than a decade now, the singer returned to his first love which is painting — which started when he was only 11 years old — once everything was put on hold.

He mounted a solo exhibit in 2023, “Pilipino Ako, Ito ang Aking Lahi,” at the NCCA (National Commission for Culture and the Arts) Gallery in Intramuros. His artistic journey continued through 2024.

“Each brushstroke and color choice has been a celebration of our rich heritage, culminating in five standout pieces that reflect my passion and dedication,” Reuben said.

“This 2025, I am excited to announce my plans for more exhibits that will further uplift and showcase Pinoy pride. Join me as I share my highlights from this past year as I envision myself being part of more exhibits, as a solo artist or group collaborator.”

Reuben will mount a collaborative visual cum fashion exhibit. This is for the last quarter of 2025. “Thanks to former Binibining Pilipinas Universe and visual artist, Nina Ricci Alagao, for prodding me to do this. It will be ‘obras’ of visual artists to be translated into fashion pieces.”

When it comes to his music, the ability to navigate various genres and vocal styles creates an unforgettable experience for this Papuri! singer and former member of The CompanY, as Reuben is inviting audiences of all ages on a journey that transcends boundaries.

This year, Reuben will captivate audiences on board various international cruise lines with two remarkable shows: “The Sheer Talent of Reuben Laurente,” scripted by the late great Philippine arts and culture advocate Floy Quintos and “Music Beyond Borders.”

Both performances are set to take place aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines’ sky, sun and spirit in February, April, July and November, promising a glorious musical celebration.

“The Sheer Talent of Reuben Laurente” is a concert that encapsulates an eclectic musical experience that can be summed up in four words: one glorious musical celebration. The concert showcases Reuben’s versatility as a vocalist. The show is presented with a nine-piece band on board cruise ships.

In his second show, “Music Beyond Borders,” Reuben will be highlighted as one of the Philippines’ vocal prides, delivering an evening rich with passion, emotion and musical brilliance. With script by fellow performer in The CompanY, Andre Castillo, the show is also done onstage before Reuben’s fellow Filipinos.

“Maybe a possible celebration would be the Filipino migrant workers’ month (June), where I can infuse my obras, as well,” Reuben offered.

In November 2024, Reuben took the stage as one of the featured acts during the Pinoy Playlist Music Festival, an all-OPM festival curated by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, Bonifacio Foundation and Maybank Performing Arts Theater’s managing director Maribel Garcia, entertainment media practitioner/artist manager Noel Ferrer and The CompanY’s artistic and music director Moy Ortiz.

In 2025, alongside his performing career, Reuben will be busy recording for digital platforms under GRMilestone Music and FEBC/Papuri! (702 DZAS/98.7 DZFE The Master’s Touch).

During the last quarter of 2025, Reuben will release his final two Christmas singles for Evosound Philippines. A special recording project featuring various Filipino vocalists singing our culture’s heritage is also in the works, set to be produced in the second quarter of this year

Reuben was officially launched as a visual artist during his first solo exhibit in 2023, “Pilipino Ako, Ito ang Aking Lahi,” being one of the 12 recipients of the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) exhibit grant.

Recently, Reuben was seen doing session work with the Philippines’ premier vocal group, The CompanY, as OJ Mariano, its resident tenor, had previous commitments along with his preparations for the musical, “Next to Normal.”

In June 2025, Reuben will join as one of the guest performers at The CompanY’s 40th-year musical celebration, highlighting his legacy with the group, where he was a member from 1991 to 2005, contributing to their first 35 industry awards and 14 albums.

Despite his numerous accolades and upcoming endeavors, Reuben views these achievements as blessings from God. He believes that his drive stems from a divine purpose, inspiring him to show others that with full confidence in the Lord, nothing is impossible.

As he looks to soar to greater heights this 2025, Reuben remains committed to being a blessing to others, embodying the spirit of a proud Filipino artist.
