The Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival has unveiled a list of 16 full-length films and their directors selected from 141 entries, all competing for a chance to participate in the second year of the festival.
Among these established and emerging filmmakers, seven will be chosen to receive a P3 million production grant from Puregold.
Vincent Co, Puregold president, expressed admiration for the diverse range of entries. “Our Selection Committee managed to curate an inspiring shortlist of projects that promise to captivate and provoke deep thought. We look forward to showcasing these remarkable ‘panalo’ stories and celebrating the unique perspectives they bring to the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival,” he said.
The shortlisted projects are “Ahon” by Rafael Mina, “Co-love” by Jill Singson Urdaneta, “Dopamine” by Sigrid Polon, “Fleeting” by Catsi Catalan, “Food Delivery” by Baby Ruth Villarama, “Journeyman” by Christian Paolo Lat & Dominic Lat, “Olsen’s Day” by JP Habac, “Perlas sa Silangan” by TM Malones, “Princess Maryam” by Julius Alfonso and Eric Cabahug, “Reel Boyz” by Rod Marmol, “Sepak Takraw” by Mes De Guzman, “Si Sol at si Luna” by Dolly Dulu, “Stuck on You” by Reeden Fajardo, “Tagsibol” by Tara Illenberger, “Waiting Shed” by Noel Escondo, and “Washing Machine” by BC Amparado.
The selection was made by a committee that includes Puregold senior marketing manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, festival director Chris Cahilig, directors Jeffrey Jeturian and Emmanuel dela Cruz, and Republic Creative Creations, Inc. representatives Sonny Bautista and Lyle Gonzales.
In the coming weeks, the shortlisted filmmakers will pitch their projects directly to the Selection Committee, which will then announce the seven filmmakers who will participate in the 2025 Puregold CinePanalo. The selected films will be screened at Gateway Cineplex 18 in Cubao from March 14-25, 2025.
