Not a few got teary eyed as members of the cast of the Kapamilya series “Can’t Buy Me Love” reflected on their journey in the series at their finale press con at the Seda Hotel ballroom last Thursday.
The whole “Can’t Buy Me Love” cast can’t help but be emotional as they related their deep camaraderie on their whole seven-month journey to “The Priceless Finale.”
“The waterworks started when veteran star Nova Villa, who portrays Mamang, extolled the qualities of her castmates. She particularly praised Donnie Pangilinan, the actor who played her adopted apo, Bingo.
“Walong buwan na pagsasama … Pwede palang mangyari yun na hindi mo kadugo pero ibigay mo puso mo… Itinuring kong anak, kung ano ang pain nya, pain mo. Pero hindi mo siya kadugo. Ganun ka powerful ang love,” said Nova, tears running down her cheeks.
Donny was similarly thankful and touched by the bond he has forged with his Mamang. He revealed that he was the one who thought of having Bingo call Nova Mamang, after his late great grandmother whom he loved so much.
He related: “Nung pinitch po sa akin ito, hindi po mamang ang tawag sa kanya ni Bingo, pero sinabi po sa akin kasi sya ‘yung ituturing kong nanay dito sa show.
“Growing up I was very close to my great grandma. We did everything together. She would bring me to tennis practice and school. She actually lived with us and I treated her like my mother as well when my mom was at home. And when I lost my great grandmother, I think it was four years ago, parang wala pang nag replace noon sa akin. Ang [tawag ko] po sa kanya ay mamá and I actually requested if we can call Mamang mamang sa show para dun ko mahuhugot ‘yung relasyon namin.
“And I can’t imagine anyone else perfect for the role but Tita Nova kasi grabe po yung binigay niya sa amin dito sa show,” he continued, “Never siyang nag no kahit sobrang hirap ng eksena. Kitang kita na nahihirapan na sya pero nag jo-joke pa rin kahit overtime na.
Siya unang magsasabi ng gawin po natin Direk. Ano pong pwedeng gawin? Kaya ko ito.
“Tita Nova, maraming salamat po. Never ko pong naranasan ito with anyone else kasi iba po yung sobrang malapit po ako sa lola ko so maraming salamat sa lahat po ng cast, ganun din po ‘yung na feel namin.”
“Can’t Buy Me Love” is down to its final episodes and will air its finale next month. Also with Nova and Donny in the cast Rowell Santiago, Chie Filomeno, Agot Isidro, Ruffa Gutierrez and Belle Mariano. It is directed by Mae Cruz Alviar and Ian Loreños.
