Ogie Alcasid celebrated a well-earned victory as his team, featuring Kim Chiu, Lassy, and MC, took home this year’s “Magpasikat” crown in “It’s Showtime’s” 15th anniversary presentation.

Prior to the win, he had a press conference at the historic Kamuning Bakery last Friday, where Ogie spoke about their performance and shared updates on his plans, including his highly anticipated project, “Videoke 2: Reimagined” at the Newport Performing Arts on November 30.

“I will be singing mostly reimagined versions of my songs. Marami akong bagong arrangements plus I don’t know if you saw our ‘Magpasikat’ performance so dadalhin ko ‘yung piano ko dun, and we’re excited,” Ogie said.

In their “Magpasikat” performance, Ogie sang about his uncertainties and future as a singer-songwriter, performing on a piano while on a rotating platform — a powerful visual metaphor for his career journey.

He said the performance provides an idea for another project, “Ogie, the Musical,” which he had mentioned in previous interviews.

At 57, Ogie continues to thrive, taking on new collaborations, reinventing his hits, and showing no signs of slowing down. For “Ogieoke 2,” he is set to perform with special guests such as “Tawag ng Tanghalan” winners JM Dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano (“Solid fanbase nila and ang galing nilang kumanta”), as well as the country’s most popular girl group BINI, who affectionately call him “Ninong.” Ogie sponsored a shopping spree for BINI in Canada, where the group enjoyed a makeup spree at Sephora.

“Meron kaming collab [with Bini] ire-record next year. Dapat this year pero nag major concert sila… nakiusap sila next year. We do have a collab, it’s gonna be released next year, ‘Sige, Galaw Galaw.’ Upbeat,” Ogie shared.

And there’s more to come, starting with his EP.

“[Ogieoke 2] will be the start of many other shows next year and maraming series na new. I will be releasing a reimagined EP of my songs in November. On November 1, I’m releasing ‘Nandito Ako’ reimagined, so kasama sa EP sa ‘Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang,’ ‘Mahal Kita Walang Iba,’ ‘Dito sa Puso Ko,’ ‘If You Go Away…’”

Early next year, Ogie plans to launch an all-new album featuring collaborations with various artists. In between his busy schedule with It’s Showtime, recordings, and concert production, Ogie, the Musical is on hold but remains a top priority.

“Hopefully at the end of next year magawa ko, or 2026. I’ll play another character. It’s about, napanood nyo ba ‘Magpasikat’? It’s a taste of what I’m explaining. There is that character,” he said.

With a career spanning decades, from his early days as a hitmaker to his recent “It’s Showtime” success, Ogie remains grounded and grateful. He credits perseverance and adaptability for his enduring relevance. “Feeling ko nilalagay ako sa lugar kung saan pwede ako…”

Reflecting on his journey, he highlights the importance of persistence. “I think you just kept trying and trying, makukuha mo rin ‘yun ulit,” he said.

When asked what drives him to continue, Ogie referenced their ‘Magpasikat’ theme of “tigil, hinga, kalma,” which illustrates his approach to coping with the pressures of fame. He stressed the need to pause and find calm amid life’s hectic pace. In today’s fast-paced world, he believes people often feel pressured to keep pushing without rest, but sometimes, the best response is to stop, breathe, and find tranquility.
