The 8th Eddys (Entertainment Editors’ Choice), presented by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), is set to take place on July 20 at the Ceremonial Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Newport World Resorts in Pasay.
The venue also hosted last year’s successful 7th EDDYS, which brought together some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.
Now on its eighth edition, the annual awards show celebrates excellence in Philippine cinema, honoring outstanding films, actors and industry professionals. It is organized by SPEEd, composed of current and former entertainment editors from leading broadsheets, top tabloids and digital platforms in the country.
A total of 14 awards in acting and technical categories will be handed out, chosen from a pool of nominees whose films were released in cinemas and select digital platforms in 2024.
One of the highlights of the evening will be the presentation of the EDDYS Icons, recognizing artists, directors and industry veterans for their contributions and decades-long dedication to Philippine cinema.
Special citations will also be awarded, including Isah V. Red Award, honoring individuals who selflessly uplift and inspire others, Joe Quirino Award and Manny Pichel Award, both recognizing distinguished members of the entertainment media.
In addition, honors will be given to the Rising Producer of the Year and Producer of the Year, as well as this year’s EDDYS Box Office Heroes.
SPEEd is led by its president Salve Asis, entertainment editor of Pilipino Star Ngayon and Pang Masa.
