LAST Monday, Miss World Philippines Organization (MWPO), headed by Arnold Vegafria, presented to the media the newly elected Miss Supranational Philippines 2021 Dindi Pajares of Orani, Bataan, and newly-appointed Mr. Supranational 2021 John Edgar Adajar of San Pablo, Laguna.
The finals of Miss World Philippines 2021, originally scheduled last Sunday, July 25, was reset for August 8 because of the sudden imposition of heightened restrictions on the ongoing community quarantine.
With more stringent health protocols imposed by the IATF and LGUs amid rising cases of Covid-19 infections caused by the more potent Delta variant, MWPO decided to hold an impromptu voting process to ensure that a delegate will be sent to the Miss Supranational world finals to be held on August 21 in Malopolska, Poland.
With the delegate having to leave for Poland on August 3, ahead of the rescheduled coronation night, MWPO had the candidates vote amongst themselves, with Pajares topping the snap poll from a short list of nominees who signified their intention to compete for Miss Supranational. Dindi won over Ruffa Nava, Kathleen Paton and Megan Campbell.
The visibly surprised Pajares, a flight attendant and Philippine Air Force reservist at Villamor Air Base, burst into tears when Vegafria, who has recently acquired the Miss Supranational franchise, announced the result.
A consistent frontrunner at MWP’s preliminary fast-track challenges, including Top Model, National Costume, Beach Body and Beauty with a Purpose, Dindi advocates for diversity, inclusion and entrepreneurship.
With her previous experience in other national beauty paheants, Dindi is ready to showcase the best of her runway skills, talent, good looks and personality on the international stage, hoping to clinch the country’s second Miss Supranational title after Mutya Datul who won in 2013.
Dindi, who is now polishing her skills with her Aces & Queens mentors, shares her mantra: If you don’t make it at first, take a rest…but don’t quit.
Meanwhile, Adajar, the reigning two-time global MMA welterweight champion, was appointed to be our delegate for Mr. Supranational to be held on August 22, also in Malopolska.
A veteran of local and national pageants, Adajar is nicknamed “The Outlaw” in the mixed martial arts world. The six-foot hunk says: “I step out of the ring and prepare for an even bigger and tougher fight — the Mr. Supranational Pageant.”
“As a martial artist, my hands can be lethal, but these very same hands can be instruments of peace, brotherhood and global understanding. I come to you with my arms outstretched, ready to embrace change, ready to celebrate diversity and equality,” said Adajar, who has also taken part in his family’s civic-minded activities, especially a city-wide food relief program #HapagKainan, meant to help his underprivileged townsfolk.
Adajar, who is training with Kagandahang Flores for his pageant skills, leaves on August 10 for Poland.
Excited about the Philippines’ participation in the forthcoming international pageants in Poland, Vegafria, who is also the national director of Mr. Supranational, is confident that Dindi and John stand a good chance of claiming the crowns and fortifying the Philippines’ reputation as a world pageant powerhouse.
