MUTYA ng Pilipinas (MNP), one of the longest-running national beauty pageants in the Philippines, officially launched its 52nd pageant edition recently at CWC BGC, ending two years of hiatus because of the pandemic.
Re-defining the meaning of women empowerment by translating it to living purposefully, Mutya ng Pilipinas will embrace a more pro-active role in highlighting the theme of: Sustainability and Inclusivity by harnessing the power of a woman as the ultimate agent of change.
Through responsible citizenship, respecting individuality, and upholding social responsibility, the new Mutya queen is ready to take her rightful place in society as a woman of substance and purpose. Cory Quirino, president of Mutya ng Pilipinas, stated “There is no better time than now for beauty pageants to become a more relevant platform to uplift and support the future of the women of the Philippines by extolling the virtues and enhancing the potential of the Filipina.”
Fred Yuson, chairman of MNP stated: “I am in support of the new and dynamic direction of Mutya ng Pilipinas.”
Also present at the launching was Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific International 2019, inarguably, the longest reigning Mutya titlist.
The search for forty MNP candidates is officially on both locally and internationally. The titles at stake are: Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022 and Mutya ng Pilipinas – Overseas Communities.
It will be noted that since Miss Tourism International 2022 will be held in September, a representative will be duly appointed at the soonest possible time.
According to Yuson, Miss Asia Pacific International, Mutya’s international franchise since 1968, expressed no intention of relaunching the tilt this year which also went into hiatus because of the pandemic. “Maybe next year, they will,” he added.
The coronation night will be staged in late November or early December 2022.
