FILIPINO-AUSTRALIAN beauty Kathleen Paton flew back to Manila one week after winning the Miss Eco International title in Cairo, Egypt.
Paton, 23, was feted with a grand homecoming party at Okada Manila last Wednesday with no less than officials of the Miss World Philippines Organization (MWPO) and Okada Manila who gave congratulatory messages and a toast to the Aklan-born international beauty queen.
Kathleen received warm salutations from MWPO president, Miss Eco International national director and Olongapo City mayoralty candidate Arnold Vegaria and MWPO vice president Ryan Ross Calmante; as well as from Cielo Ortega-Reboredo, Okada Manila’s vice president for sales and marketing.
Okada Manila’s senior vice president for hotel operations Ivaylo Ivanov and vice president for food and beverages Andreas Ballo joined in the victory toast for Kathleen.
Paton also engaged members of media in an interview session, reminscing the fateful event last week when she nailed the country’s second Miss Eco International title after Cynthia Thomalla who won in 2018, also in Egypt.
It was also the fourth consecutive edition that the Philippines kept its strong top 2 finish in the pageant. Maureen Montagne, who is now the reigning Miss Globe, was first runner-up in 2019 while Kelley Day duplicated Montagne’s feat in 2020 (held in 2021 because of the pandemic).
Paton won the Miss Eco International in Cairo, Egypt a week ago, succeeding Gizelle Uys of South Africa.
She bested four other finalists: Belgium’s Chloe Reweghs, the USA’s Jessy Peralta, Spain’s Lucia Morales and Malaysia’s Prasana Shri. Forty contestants worldwide competed.
Paton is a staunch advocate of sustainable drinking water and mental awareness.
