A NATIVE of Nabas, Aklan and educated and raised in Australia, Miss Eco Philippines 2021 Kathleen Paton, 24, is all set to embark on her latest pageant journey to Cairo and Luxor in Egypt to represent the country at the 7th Miss Eco International.
But there’s more to be impressed about Kathleen beyond the glitz and glam of the pageant stage.
Kathleen kicked off the new year with her charity work for the residents of southern Palawan who were badly hit by Typhoon Odette last December, wasting no time by shooting her eco video there that has already garnered more than 130,000 views.
At the core of her environmental advocacy is her crusade for water sustainability, pushing for cleaner drinking water in the country’s far-flung areas, and reaching out to 100 For All, an NGO, to install cost-efficient water treatment solutions to affected areas.
Kath is also passionate about her mental health advocacy, having been a survivor in more ways than one and open to talk about her not-so-happy past. Like a true warrior princess, she is just as proud in talking about her wounds and battle scars and the pivotal role they’ve played in molding her into the person that she is now. “That’s the kind of advocate of life that I am,” she said.
She has also dabbled in acting, having appeared in the indie film “Through Night and Day” with Paolo Contis and Alessandra de Rossi. She’s also into pop music and classical violin.
Kath is aiming for her fourth consecutive pageant title, hoping to duplicate the feat of Cebu’s Cynthia Thomalla who won as Miss Eco International in 2018, also in Egypt. Kath’s previous titles include: Miss Teen International (in Thailand) in 2017 and Miss Manila in 2018.
