A MULTI-awarede beauty in various national and international beauty pageants, former Mutya ng Pilipinas President Hemilyn Escudero-Tamayo is making a grand comeback in the world of beauty pageants.

Hemilyn confides that after all these years, she still misses the industry that she considers her second home. The Bicolana-Pampagueña beauty is preparing for the upcoming fourth annual edition of the Mrs. Tourism beauty pageant, a friendly international competition for married women and single mothers with the tag line “A Mother Who Cares for the World,” which is the brain child of “Mother of All Pageants” Ovette Ricalde of MegaStar Productions.

The international pageant will feature more than 30 beautiful and advocacy-driven women around the world who will compete in various virtual preliminary events before the scheduled grand finale on August 3.

Five major titles are at stake: Mrs. Tourism Universe, Mrs. Tourism World, Mrs. Tourism International, Mrs. Tourism Globe and Mrs. Tourism Earth. Three very special titles are also up for grabs: Mrs. Tourism The Queen Mother, Mrs. Tourism Charity Queen and Mrs. Tourism Ambassador.

Hemilyn will have her training at Kagandahang Flores (KF) beauty camp under the very detailed supervision of founder and head trainer Rodgil Flores. Flores believes that Hemilyn is the perfect representative of the Philippines not only because of her physical attributes but most importantly because of her philanthropic works that started years ago, not to mention her comprehensive resumé as a beauty queen, artist, entrepreneur, image consultant, investor and pageant producer, to mention a few.

Hemilyn studied Art at the prestigious Yale University in Connecticut, USA. Most of her artworks were featured in major painting exhibits in the metropolis and received positive feedbacks from art patrons. She is also an incumbent officer of United Women’s Artist Association of the Philippines (UWAAP) headed by artist Menchu Arandilla.

The wife of an air force reservist officer and doting mother of two boys, Hemilyn is also an air force reservist under the AFP Reserve Command.

The daughter of former Mayor Dr. Oscar Escudero of Casiguran, Sorsogon and Sorsogon Gov. Chiz Escudero, Hemilyn is a product of the Fashion Image Institute in San Francisco, California and is now taking up her Master of Science in Psychology Major in Developmental Psychology at the University of Perpetual Help System in Laguna and her MA/PhD in Organizational Development at the SAIDI Graduate School of Organizational Development.

As the president of Mutya ng Pilipinas from 2017 to 2018, Hemilyn left an unforgettable legacy, including the staging of the 50th edition of the well-loved pageant in 2018 and the eventual crowning as Mutya ng Pilipinas of Sharifa Akeel who would subsequently make history as the fifth Filipina to win as Miss Asia Pacific International.

Is Hemilyn ready to head another big national pageant organization? “There is a big possibility. I’m not closing my doors because pageantry is in my blood… haha! But for now, my focus is my family, studies and my love for painting,” Hemilyn intimated with a wink.
