CALOOCAN’s Shanon Jumaylh Tampon was crowned as Miss Elite Philippines, and Miss Bikini Philippines 2022 was launched led by its new national director Roxie Baeyens in a 2-in-1 grand event held at the historic Laurel House in Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong City last Sunday.

Tampon, a pageant “veteran” who was Miss Caloocan 2019, Miss Philippines Earth 2019 runner-up, Miss Bikini Philippines 2019 finalist and a candidate at the 57th Binibining Pilipinas pageant, was chosen as the first Miss Elite Philippines titlist who will represent the country at the 2nd edition of the Miss Elite Pageant set for Somabay Luxury Resort, Red Sea, Egypt from June 10 to 18 where around 40 delegates worldwide are expected to vie for the coveted crown currently held by Mexico’s Fernanda Pumar.
An animal rights advocate and ProMedia “athlete,” Shanon was the unanimous choice of ProMedia head Paul Izon Reyes, Hiyas ng Pilipinas president and Miss Elite national director and former titlist of both Mutya ng Pilipinas and Binibining Pilipinas Eva Patalinjug.
In a recorded video message, Patalinjug expressed her full support to Tampon. Honed by years of being active on pageantry, Shanon exudes the confidence that she mustered through the years. “Show the world what the Filipina ‘elite’ can do at her own merit,” Patalinjug advised Tampon.
Hiyas ng Pilipinas was authorized by the international Miss Elite organization to hand-pick its delegate because of the proximity of the date of the pageant in Egypt. Hiyas ng Pilipinas will hold its finals in March and the winner for the Miss Elite pageant will therefore compete at next year’s staging.
Present likewise were ProMedia’s Jam Aquino, who crowned Tampon; Miss Elite communications director Ferdinand Abejon and Asia-Pacific consultant Keny Filarca; and KF head mentor Rodgil Flores who also directed the show.
Meanwhile, Miss Philippines Earth 2020 and Miss Earth Water 2020 Roxie Baeyens from Baguio was introduced as this year’s Miss Bikini Philippines national director who will oversee the pageant’s contestants from all over country and its live, on-stage finals.
