A sleeker and more tech-savvy Kim Atienza is ready to captivate audiences with his latest infotainment program, “Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim.”
The program, which highlights trending topics and viral phenomena, showcases a refreshed take on delivering knowledge with a twist of entertainment.
Renewing his contract with GMA, Kuya Kim continues to embrace his role as the go-to source of fascinating trivia and insights. “Ang atake sa show na ito, lahat ng matatanda naniniwala na kay Kuya Kim, pati tatay ko tawag sa akin Kuya, pero mga Gen Z, bago ‘yan. Itong mga bata na ito, mga nakatutok sa telepono, sila ang target natin,” he explained. “Swak sa pansala sa mga bata.”
The program dives into diverse subjects such as artificial intelligence and outer space, promising a youthful and tech-savvy approach. “Mas bata, mas techie ito,” Kuya Kim noted, adding humorously, “Sabi mo nga parang kay Jessica [Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho] eto pero on asteroids.”
“Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim” is a fast-paced show that unpacks trending topics and viral videos, revealing the science, stories, and surprising details behind them. With his signature wit and charm, Kuya Kim guides viewers through bizarre animal encounters, curious phenomena, and everyday mysteries, making it an engaging and educational experience for all ages.
“This is still the Kuya Kim you know, but with a new flavor,” he shared. “Sa mundong ito, kailangan flexible tayo. At sa edad na 58, medyo millennial, Gen Zish Kuya Kim naman. Pero ang essence ay pareho pa rin, nagbibigay pa rin ng impormasyon na makabuluhan at magagamit sa pang-araw-araw na buhay.”
A voracious reader and lover of trivia, Kuya Kim has seamlessly adapted to the digital age. “Napakahilig kong magbasa. Dati rati, before social media, I was reading books and magazines all the time. But now, everything has turned digital. Ang Kindle ko nandito sa telepono ko, and I watch a lot of videos and podcasts.”
He remains a strong presence on social media, which he views as an essential tool for staying connected and relevant. “Social media is neutral – it would depend on the person to use it positively or negatively. As much as I could, I would like to be salt and light in social media, and at the same time, I follow people who are salt and light as well – so it becomes a positive experience. But being in the public eye, it’s important to be immersed in social media. We have to know the trends, how the algorithm works, how each platform works, and use it to be salt and light to all my viewers and subscribers.”
“Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim” airs every Saturday at 10:45 a.m. on GMA.
