The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has decided to suspend the Kapamilya noontime show “It’s Showtime” for twelve days because of its hosts’ “[acting] in an indecent manner during one of its segments, ‘Isip Bata’.”

In a statement released yesterday, the board said the program may submit a motion for reconsideration within fifteen days.

“In accordance with the Presidential Decree (P.D.) No. 1986 (MTRCB Charter), the respondents may file one Motion for Reconsideration (MR) within fifteen (15) days after receipt of the decision. Should the Board’s Decision be adverse to the respondent’s MR, they may appeal to the Office of the President within fifteen (15) days from the receipt of the decision on the MR,” it said.

The suspension was spurred by “multiple complaints” received by the board this year, according to the statement.

In addition to the 12-day suspension, “It’s Showtime” also received two warnings from the board for “inappropriate utterances” of the word “G Spot” by hosts Jhong Hilario and Vice Ganda” and “tinggil” by Vhong Hilario.

The MTRCB also issued prior warnings for the mention of “pekpek shorts” and the costume and performance of Kim Duenas deemed inapproproate by the board.

The statement mentioned receiving other “multiple complaints” against “It’s Showtime” that were dismissed by the board “ in the spirit of fairness and equity.”

In 2010, the board meted out a 20-day suspension for “Showtime.”

ABS-CBN, in reaction to the ruling, maintained that the program did not break “any pertinent law.”

“We will submit a Motion for Reconsideration as we humbly maintain that there was no violation of pertinent law,” ABS-CBN said in a statement.

“We are also committed to working with the MTRCB to ensure that ‘It’s Showtime’can continue to bring joy and entertainment to our noontime viewers,” it further said, adding that the program remains thankful for the support of the “madlang people.”
