Young actors Seth Fedelin and Francine Diaz have expressed enthusiasm for their Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, “My Future You,” set to premiere on December 25.
At a press conference held at the Regal Valencia Events Place, the two highlighted the film’s alignment with the Christmas season. They described the story as one that conveys themes of contentment and appreciation for the present. “Ito ay about sa … pagiging kontento sa pamilya or sa kung anong meron ka ngayon. ‘Yung pagpapahalaga sa present time,” Francine shared.
The film promotes themes of love, togetherness, and cherishing relationships — messages often emphasized during the holiday season. Seth described the project as “a family-friendly film, perfect for all ages,” while Francine said, “The movie brings joy and a sense of nostalgia, reminding us of the importance of family and love during Christmas.”
Director Crisanto Aquino addressed potential comparisons to other films that incorporate characters navigating different timelines, acknowledging the use of familiar storytelling techniques. “Normal naman ‘yun, ang tawag dun kasi is film tropes… so we writers use that device to make some stories… Will I stop myself from writing it dahil may gumawa? So I think it’s not a big deal for me.”
Direk Cris also praised Fedelin and Diaz for their performances, noting their ability to fully inhabit their characters, Lex and Karen. “Walang trace nina Seth at Francine dito. Sina Lex at Karen ang makikita ng viewers,” he said.
The film has received a General Patronage rating, making it accessible to audiences of all ages. Keith Monteverde, executive vice president of Regal Entertainment, described the movie as akin to “a warm hug” during the Christmas season.
Produced by Roselle Monteverde, president and CEO of Regal Entertainment, “My Future You” is one of ten films competing in the 50th edition of the MMFF.
