QCinema International Film Festival’s Screen International section showcases 10 acclaimed films from world-renowned directors, spotlighting diverse storytelling styles. Featured Cannes winners include “All We Imagine as Light” by Payal Kapadia, Grand Prix winner and the first Indian film in decades to compete at Cannes; “Grand Tour” by Miguel Gomes, Portugal’s Oscar entry; “Simon of the Mountain” by Federico Luis; and Palme d’Or winner “Anora” by Sean Baker.

In “All We Imagine as Light,” set in Mumbai, three nurses confront personal struggles, highlighting the complexities of urban life. “Grand Tour” follows a British civil servant’s journey across Asia in 1917. “Simon of the Mountain” explores themes of perception and belonging, while “Anora” tells of a Brooklyn sex worker’s fight for stability after an impulsive marriage.

Fresh from Venice, “Phantosmia” by Lav Diaz follows a retired soldier haunted by phantom smells, while Joshua Oppenheimer’s “The End” examines privilege and denial within a wealthy family secluded in a salt mine. The section also includes “The Count of Monte Cristo” and Pedro Almodóvar’s “The Room Next Door,” which examines friendship and mortality.
