The grand launch of “Uninvited”, Mentorque Productions’ highly anticipated entry to the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), was nothing short of spectacular. Held last Wednesday, November 20, at the Solaire North ballrooms in Quezon City, the event unveiled the official trailer and poster for the film, which is shaping up to be a cinematic highlight for the MMFF’s golden anniversary.

Producer Bryan Diamante, the visionary behind last year’s MMFF sensation Mallari, expressed immense pride in the project. “We can do these kinds of stories … not just for the Filipino audience, but for the world,” he shared in his speech.

This confidence is well-founded, as “Uninvited” boasts a powerhouse cast featuring acting icons Vilma Santos and Aga Muhlach, along with this generation’s leading star Nadine Lustre.

Adding more luster to the ensemble are Gabby Padilla, Elijah Canlas, Ketchup Eusebio, Gio Alvarez, Cholo Barretto, Ron Angeles, Mylene Dizon, Lotlot de Leon, and Tirso Cruz III, all under the expert direction of Dan Villegas, marking his return to filmmaking after a six-year hiatus and a screenplay by Dodo Dayao.

The tagline, “Hindi lang to basta party!” (“This is no ordinary party!”), teases the film’s dark and intricate narrative. The story revolves around Eva Candelaria (Vilma), who has been planning her revenge for a decade. The target? Billionaire Guilly Vega (Aga), the man responsible for her daughter’s brutal murder. Disguised as a socialite, Eva infiltrates Guilly’s lavish birthday party with a singular mission— to make him pay.

As the night unfolds, Eva unravels the web of secrets surrounding Guilly and his daughter Nicole (Nadine), forcing her to confront life-altering choices. But in a world filled with moral ambiguity, the question lingers: Who is the real villain?

“Uninvited” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a partnership that echoes the success of “Mallari” in taking Filipino films to global audiences. Mentorque Productions also joins forces with Project 8 Projects for the first time.

Mentorque CEO John Bryan Diamante underscored the company’s commitment to delivering world-class cinema: “We understand the challenges Filipinos face today. Watching a movie in theaters is a luxury, so we made sure this is worth every peso.”

“Uninvited” hits theaters nationwide on December 25, as part of the MMFF’s official lineup.
