Beauty Gonzalez and Kelvin Miranda found working together in their first movie, ‘After All,’ produced by ALV Films, to be more relaxed, comfortable, and familiar.

This marks their third collaboration after appearing together in the May-December drama, “Loving Miss Bridgette,” in 2021 and portraying siblings in GMA’s hit sitcom, “Walang Matigas Na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis.”

This is their third time to work together, after being paired in the May-December drama, “Loving Miss Bridgette” in 2021 and playing siblings in the sitcom, “Walang Matigas Na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis.”

The two have created a unique bond from their previous teamup, and Beauty praised Kelvin for ensuring her comfort during scenes.

“He’s really a gentleman who takes good care of me on the set and before we do anything, we talk about it,” related Beauty at “After All’s” press conference held at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel last Friday, February 16. “Pinaplano namin together with the director so madali lang sa’kin, lalo na pag tinatrato ka ng respeto at mayos kayo sa set. At ang gwapo gwapo niya syempre hindi mahirap humalik sa ganun.

“I really enjoy the whole experience making the film. Sincerely kinikilig ako while making the film,” she added.

It was a different story during their first teamup. While they were making “Loving Miss Bridgette,” Kelvin admitted he was shaking as they were about to shoot their kissing scene.

“Nanginginig talaga ako na hindi ako mapakali at medyo na-a-awkward ako kasi hindi ko pa alam kung papano siya gawin. so guide ako ni Direk atsaka ni Beauty at sobrang laking tulong ‘yun para sa susunod, alam ko na gagawin,” he said.

“Ngayon wala ng nginig,” he added with a chuckle.

“Beauty na siya, hindi maikakaila sa pangalan. Beauty, Matanda talaga at magaling,” he also said.

Directed by Adolf Alix, Jr. and written by Gina Marissa Tagasa-Gil from a concept of Joey Abacan, “After All” features Beauty as Yna, who seems to have found a reincarnation of her great love in the person of Kelvin, who plays Joseph. Later, Yna gets into a conflict with her son Joey, played by Teejay Marquez, get because of Joseph.

“More than the reincarnation that you will watch, amid the separation these days, love is still eternal,” said Tagasa-Gil on the movie’s message, “Genuine love stories do not have endings, only beautiful beginnings.”

Meanwhile, ALV Films president and “After All” producer Arnold Vegafria is excited by the resurgence in the local movie industry, as gleaned from the latest 2023 MMFF box-office stats.

“Filipino movies are back in business, and we hope they stay that way for the long haul,” he said. “The challenge for producers is to come up with fresh material that caters to the ever-changing tastes of our Pinoy audience.

“There’s always been a tendency to take the easy road and resort to remakes and adaptations of foreign films, but I firmly believe that our writers and directors can compete head-on with their Western or even Asian counterparts, as we can see in our major triumphs in prestigious film festivals,” he added.

“We have already opened the door. We have already given the world a close peek at what we can do. So, I firmly believe that it’s only a matter of time before we can surpass our Asian neighbors, like South Korea, for instance.”

“After All,” also starring Devon Seron, comedienne Tart Carlos, hunky actor Juan Carlos Galano, former Miss World Philippines queens Dindi Pajares, Katrina Llegado and Riana Pangindian, with Sparkle artists Bella Thompson and Kiko Ipapo, former PBB Otso housemate and content creator Lienel Navidad, and veteran stars Bembol Roco and Elizabeth Oropesa, will be shown in local cinemas starting February 28.

The “After All” cast will embark on a promo tour in select Metro Manila malls prior to its grand premiere at SM Megamall Cinema 2 on February 26.
