The tower doors have opened, and the chosen princesses are ready to sing. Newport World Resorts has announced the actresses who will portray Young Fiona and Teen Fiona in its upcoming ogre-sized production of “Shrek The Musical,” set to open on October 31 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.
Selected to alternate as Young Fiona are Nela Quilloy Cu Unjieng, Tiffany Criss Ching and Althea Ruedas. Cu Unjieng has appeared in “Godspell” and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.” Ching brings solo vocal experience and stage confidence. Ruedas, the eldest among the trio, has a background in both film and television, with appearances in local and international screen projects.
For Teen Fiona, the production has cast Daniella Albano, Lois Bersalona, Simone Valderrama Martinez and Crystalia Jaya. Albano is a former cast member of the international touring production of “The Lion King.” Bersalona is a soprano and student performer affiliated with the University of Santo Tomas, while Martinez has appeared in concerts, music videos and TV commercials. Jaya, the youngest, is set to showcase her expressive soprano and strong stage presence.
