Marcos recalls meeting Gloria Romero, calls her ‘great lady’

President Marcos Jr. was saddened by the passing of veteran actress Gloria Romero who he described as a “brilliant artist” and a “very fine person.”

The President took to social media in expressing his sorrow over the passing of “one of Philippine cinema’s great icons.”

Marcos said he had the pleasure of meeting Romero on the set of “Iginuhit ng Tadhana,” where she portrayed former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and he had been an admirer of her work ever since

“She was always a great lady with the dignity of a true star. Not just a brilliant artist but a very fine person, the world of Filipino cinema and all of entertainment will never forget her,” he said

Romero passed away at the age of 91 last January 25.

Her wake is set at the Arlington Memorial Chapel in Quezon City.

Romero is renowned in the Philippine entertainment industry for her remarkable talent and contributions to cinema spanning several decades. Among her notable films were “Magnifico,” “Tanging Yaman” and “Rainbow’s Sunset,” and the comedy sitcom “Palibhasa Lalake.”
