MJ Gutierrez has launched her own production and talent management outfit, Gutierrez Celebrities and Media Production last March 2 at the SM SkyDome.
Gutierrez prides itself for being progressive in that its focus is on giving opportunities to those who are brimming with ideas but have no means to see these ideas through.
“Gusto ko makilala ang Gutierrez Celebrities and Media Productions na pinto para sa may brilliant ideas but not enough funds,” said MJ, “so nandito ako para sumuporta sa kanila.
Andito ako para sa line producers, writers, directors na may idea. ‘Pag ok sya, willing ako mag produce.
“Hindi [ko na lang ito tinatag] para sa akin, para sa lahat na para mabigyan ng reality ang imaginations nila.”
Being new in the business, MJ said that Gutierrez is open to collaboration. Currently, MJ is excited about their partnership with AllTV: a weekly youth-oriented show and a daily teleserye.
MJ said she sought them out and was at the verge of giving up when they got a call from the office of AllTV’s Maribeth Tolentino. “Actually nung nagkaroon ng prangkisa ang AllTV hinnanap ko sila, kasi for me, bago sila, bago ako, so we can help each other,” she said.
“Nagpatawag sila ng meeting – around 3 or 4 times – then we ended up ng dalawang shows, a variety show and a teleserye.”
The Sunday variety show is called “Stan Party” (Sunday Trending and Nonstop Party) that will feature some of the freshest stars in the business. Meanwhile, the teleserye is “Baywatch” inspired and is called “The Lifesavers.” It is set in Siargao and revolves around the lives of lifeguards. Among the names she is considering for the lead part in the sexy teleserye “male Baywatch” are Maja Salvador and Miles Ocampo.
“Medyo sexy siya,” said MJ. “Pinag aaralan pa kasi wala pang show like that informs people about the pains lifeguards go through, how to save lives, at mga pinagdadaanan ng mga lifeguards.”
“Love Bound,” a romance anthology series, is also in the works.
Gutierrez is also behind two Topel Lee projects: “Jeongbu” and “A Lasting Love to Remember.” “Jeongbu” is a horror film featuring Aljur Abrenica and Ritz Azul. Set in Baguio, the film focuses on a family who goes on a trip to the City of Pines. Because of stress from work, Aljur decides to take his wife and daughter to a family vacation. But the planned retreat goes awry as bizarre, unexplained events start to happen all around.
The film “A Lasting Love to Remember,” on the other hand, is a romantic drama that will feature one of the homegrown artists of Gutierrez.
