Maja Salvador has revealed why she and her husband, Rambo Nunez, have yet to share a glimpse of their 10-month-old daughter, Maria, with netizens.
At her partnership renewal event with the beauty giant Beautederm last Wednesday at Solaire North, the actress explained her desire to protect her child in the age of artificial intelligence and social media bashing. “Ako pa naman hindi patolera, pero feeling ko may lalabas na ibang Maja kung i-post ko ‘yung anak ko tapos may ibang perfect na tao na magko-comment ng hindi maganda sa anak ko. So ‘yun mga iniiwasan ko. Tsaka mga inosenteng bata – ‘di ba? – tapos iba-bash? So huwag na lang, parang hindi ko ise-share sa inyo tapos iba-bash nyo lang,” she said.
During her time as a full-time mom, Maja fully embraced breastfeeding Maria and tending to her family, unmindful of the time spent away from the limelight. “Hindi ako natakot, kasi ready ako magpakananay at maging isang asawa,” she shared. “Ang tagal ko wini-wish, ang tagal kong dinadasal na magkaroon ng sariling pamilya, maging isang nanay, at binigay sa akin. Tapos napaka-swerte ko na may mga producers na nagtitiwala sa akin.”
But she misses acting. “Ang pinaka-na-mimiss ko is umarte, because my last teleserye was ‘Niña, Niño’ (2021) which was a dramedy. Ngayon nag-ho-host ako, so nakakamiss umarte.”
Although acting has taken a backseat for Maja, one thing remains constant: her relationship with Beautederm and its CEO, Rhea Anicoche-Tan, whom Maja affectionately calls “Manang Rei.” Maja has been with Beautederm for four years and endorses the brand’s top-selling skincare line, Blanc Set, which includes sunscreen, tretinoin for acne prevention and hydroquinone for hyperpigmentation treatment.
“Parang nung naging nanay ako, mas na-appreciate ko ngayon ‘yung mga beauty products,” Maja explained. “Buti na lang po nag-renew si Manang Rei. Mahal din ang maintenance.”
More than just a CEO, Maja considers Manang Rei a guiding presence, even having her as one of the sponsors at her wedding to Rambo. “Ateng-ate,” Maja remarked. “Family talaga,” she added about her bond with Anicoche-Tan. “Ramdam mo sa kanya kung genuine ang isang tao o hindi.”
Anicoche-Tan is also deeply thankful for Maja’s friendship, mentioning how the actress helped arrange one of her birthday celebrations and supported her new venture, Audrey Bags. “I’m so grateful sa mga babies ko na laging nandiyan. Masarap mabuhay kasi nandiyan sila to support you always,” Anicoche-Tan shared. The two women are so in sync that they are now collaborating on another project, which they hinted will be revealed soon. “Baka next month magkakasama tayo, dahil nung nabuntis ako, sabi ko, Manang, parang kailangan natin ng ganito. Another partnership ito. Nung naging mommy na ako, mas naging conscious ako sa katawan ko ngayon,” Maja teased. Changes are inevitable but Anicoche-Tan believes self-care and beauty maintenance are crucial commitments to oneself. Despite the noticeable changes due to aging, like sagging skin and drooping eyes, Beautederm’s boss maintains a positive outlook. “Aging is real, pero kailangan i-embrace. Age is a blessing, ‘di ba? Habang nagbi-birthday ka, buhay ka. So grateful everyday na nag-e-age,” Anicoche-Tan reflected.
In her speech, Anicoche-Tan also expressed her gratitude for Maja’s support. “This celebration is especially meaningful to me because I believe in women’s power, kindness, generosity, and entrepreneurial skills.
“Thanks to the support of women like my mother, sister, daughter, female employees, and endorsers like Maja, Beautéderm is still going strong after 15 years.”
She also spoke about the true essence of a woman’s glow. “True woman’s glow comes from generosity and kindness. Beauty fades, but the way you make others feel never does.”
