Regal Entertainment and C’est Lovi Productions’ “Guilty Pleasure” is a mesmerizing revenge drama that takes audiences on a thrilling ride through steamy bedroom scenes and high-stakes courtroom drama, expertly led by an all-female creative powerhouse.
Directed by Connie Macatuno and written by Noreen Capili, the film is an exploration of power, abuse, and justice, with Lovi Poe delivering an impressive performance as Alexis Miranda, a lawyer with a secret.

From the very first scene, “Guilty Pleasure” grips you, opening with a provocative encounter involving a woman in S&M attire and a submissive, tattooed man. This sets the tone for a film that doesn’t shy away from exploring the complexities of power dynamics – both in intimate settings and in the legal arena.
But “Guilty Pleasure” is more than just a series of steamy sequences. At the heart of the film is Lovi Poe’s character, Alexis Miranda, a brilliant lawyer who is also a survivor of sexual assault. As she navigates her career and personal life, Alexis transforms from victim to victor, using her intelligence and strength to pursue justice not only for herself but for others. Lovi Poe’s portrayal of Alexis is the perfect balance of vulnerability and power. She is vulnerable and fragile with Alex, played effectively by JM De Guzman and sure and seductive with Math, portrayed wonderfully by Jameson Blake. In the courtroom, Alexis is sharp and commanding; outside of it, she wrestles with her past but never lets it defeat her. Poe’s intensive preparation – considering it is her first time to play a lawyer – paid off. Her ability to convey a range of emotions – fear, anger, disgust, and ultimately empowerment – cements her status as one of the finest actresses of her generation.
The film’s female-led production team, including producer Roselle Monteverde of Regal Entertainment and Poe herself under C’est Lovi Productions, deserves special praise for creating a movie that centers the experiences of women. The collaboration among these females results in a film that is not only captivating but also deeply resonant.
Dustin Yu, Sarah Edwards, Angelica Lao and Soliman Cruz also give commendable performance.
Macatuno’s direction is bold, mixing sensuality with suspense in a way that never feels exploitative. Instead, the intimate scenes serve as a reflection of Alexis’ complex relationship with control and vulnerability. The courtroom battles are equally intense.

What sets “Guilty Pleasure” apart is how it flips the script on typical revenge dramas. It’s not just about retribution – it’s about reclaiming power. As Alexis Miranda, Lovi embodies that transformation with such conviction that you can’t help but root for her. Her legal victories feel earned, and her personal growth is empowering.
If perfection were a crime, Lovi Poe is undeniably guilty.
