Legal fights and reunions on ‘CIA with BA’

Two mothers facing very different challenges were featured in the latest episode of “CIA with BA,” one seeking legal clarity, the other longing for reunion.

In the “Tanong ng Pilipino” segment, single mom Pau asked whether a mother can be the sole guardian of her child, even if the father is named on the birth certificate.

“The answer depends on the status of the mother and father,” explained legal expert Atty. Mark Devoma. “If the parents are married, they share parental authority. Sole authority goes to the mother only if the child was born outside of marriage.”

Meanwhile, in the “Aksyon Agad” segment, Gina was finally reunited with her twin sons, Cedric and Cerio, after 11 years. Forced to send them to her mother in Zamboanga due to poverty and a troubled marriage, Gina had only seen them in photos — until now.

“Sorry kung napalayo sila dahil sa kahirapan ng buhay,” she said through tears, vowing to start fresh with her reunited family.

Hosted by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and Boy Abunda, “CIA with BA” continues to tackle real-life issues with heart and service. The show airs Sundays at 11 p.m. on GMA7, with replays Saturdays at 10:30 p.m. on GTV.
