Lani Misalucha calls latest ‘The Clash’ season the toughest yet

For “The Clash” juror Lani Misalucha, this year’s “The Clash” is unlike any before — and the stakes have never been higher.

“Yes, for now, this is the toughest season,” she said during a recent press conference. “We’re not only judging new talents, but we also have to make difficult decisions about the Clashbackers. That’s going to hurt, especially knowing they’ve come back for redemption. It’s emotionally heavy for all of us.”

Now on its newest season, “The Clash” returns with a bold twist that has judges, contestants, and audiences bracing for a rollercoaster of performances and emotions. “The Clash 2025,” which premiered on June 8, introduced a new format that pits New Clashers against Clashbackers in a 14-week musical battle.

“This season is truly exciting for us judges,” Lani added. “We’ve been able to listen to and watch the Clashbackers again. Some of them gave their best performances in their original seasons, and now they’re back — improved, more mature, and even more determined. It’s a joy to hear them again.”

She continued: “I don’t want to call the Clashbackers ‘old’ — let’s say they’re veterans. What’s interesting is that both batches are going to give their all. And for the Clashbackers, it’s not just about showing up again; they really have to prove themselves to us because we already know their past performances.”

As for what kind of artist she’s rooting for this season, Lani said: “I want someone who isn’t just appealing to the Filipino audience, but someone who has the potential to connect with international listeners too. That’s the kind of champion I’m hoping for this season.”

A new chapter in GMA Network’s hit singing competition “The Clash” is unfolding — and it’s bigger, bolder, and more emotional than ever.

For the first time in the show’s history, two distinct batches of contestants are clashing onstage. The New Clashers, introduced last May 28, are twelve rising stars vying for their breakthrough moment:
Adelle Yu, Carlos Florez, Divine Camposano, Jan Echavarria, Jayce San Rafael, Juary Sabith, Liafer Deloso, Leigh Atienza, Marian Pimenta, Mitzi Josh, Scarlet Yape, and Venus Pelobello.
Each newcomer brings a unique style, voice, and story to the stage.

Then came the surprise twist — the return of the Clashbackers: twelve former contestants making a comeback with renewed drive and unfinished business.
They are: Vilmark, Renz Robosa, Jennifer Maravilla, Arabelle Dela Cruz, Nef Medina, Lyra, Bea, Liana Castillo, Zyrene Ciervo, Allain Maristela Gatdula, Tombi Romulo, and Jong Madaliday.

These returning artists, once audience favorites and near-champions, are now out to prove that growth, grit, and second chances can lead to ultimate victory. Their return has electrified fans and added an emotional edge to the competition.

Every Sunday, viewers can expect intense face-offs, surprise eliminations, and show-stopping performances. Only four contestants — from either side — will make it to the grand finals, and the road to get there will be packed with unforgettable moments.

Hosting the high-stakes season are “Clash Masters” Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz, whose chemistry continues to energize the stage. Sitting on the “Clash Panel” with Lani Misalucha are AiAi delas Alas and Christian Bautista, who offer both guidance and tough love to the hopefuls each week.

“The Clash 2025” airs every Sunday at 7:15 p.m. on GMA.
