Actress-politician Lani Mercado is excited for husband, Senator Bong Revilla, Jr., who will be back on TV next month.
Bong will be seen on primetime in “Walang Matigas Na Pulis sa Matinik Na Misis,” showing every Sunday, starting June 4, after “Happy ToGetHer” on GMA.
Lani, Cavite’s second district representative, might just make a cameo in the show.
“Wala pang napagsasarahan pero guesting lang, hindi regular,” said Rep. Lani at last Monday’s birthday celebration thrown by the Revilla couple for well-loved talent manager Lolit Solis at SuperSam on Sct. Tobias in Quezon City.
“Kasi syempre ang focus is on him and Beauty [Gonzales],” added Lani, who was her husband’s original partner in the 1994 action-comedy, “Walang Matigas Na Pulis sa Matinik Na Misis.”
Lani had a hand in picking Beauty to be her husband’s screen wife. Aside from Beauty’s talent as an actress, it was her being a Bisaya that made the character more interesting.
“Ako ang nag recommend [kay Beauty]. Iba ang touch pag Bisaya,” said Lani, who added that she found inspiration from their Visayan friends.
She is also especially happy that the series will also give new opportunities to colleagues ER Ejercito, Dennis Padilla, Nino Muhlach, Jimmy Santos and several stuntmen to showcase their skills.
Her husband, Sen. Bong, acknowledges Lani’s influence in his new project. But more than that, he gives Lani the spotlight for being a great mom and wife and helping him raise their six children – all achievers – Agimat party-list Rep. Bryan and Cavite first district Rep. Jolo are both part of the lower house with their mom, Atty. Inah Revilla-del Rosario, Viktoria Gianna Patricio, Franzel Loudette, who is studying to be a doctor, and Ram, who is a second-district board member in Cavite.
“We are so blessed and vindicated kaya I am so thankful kay God sa lahat ng nangyari sa mga anak ko, naging challenge for them. Nag strive sila, pinagbuti nila at pin-rove nila na ‘kaya namin.’ At bigay natin ang credit ang credit sa tamang puntahan,” he said, gestures toward his wife who was sitting beside him.
