It was a week of back-to-back victories for the Philippines as two Filipinos claimed international recognition in pageantry and fashion.
Kirk Bondad, a Filipino-German model and fitness trainer, emerged victorious as Mister International 2025 after outshining 40 contestants at the grand finals in Bangkok, Thailand, on September 25.
With the crown on his head and the Philippine sash across his chest, Bondad expressed deep gratitude upon his return to Manila.
“This is not just about me it’s about the whole nation. We Filipinos carry our pride and flag on the global stage. Thank you for all the love and support,” he said.

Bondad impressed not only with his physique and charisma but also with his message. Asked at the Q&A portion which issue he would address if invited to speak at the United Nations, he chose to highlight children’s welfare.
“Today’s children will be tomorrow’s leaders. If we make the right decisions even small ones they will create a big impact internationally,” he said, earning loud applause.
Apart from the main crown, Bondad also placed Top 5 in National Costume and Top 3 in People’s Choice.
On the same weekend, Filipino designer and beauty queen Veejay Floresca made history as the first openly transgender Filipina to win Project Runway, taking home the Season 21 title on September 26.
Floresca captivated the judges with her final collection, “A Beautiful Moment,” a tribute to her late father.
“After my dad’s passing, I promised to take on his role as the breadwinner. This win is the perfect way to honor him,” she shared during her emotional victory speech.
Floresca’s journey is one of resilience and excellence. From graduating cum laude at De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde to pursuing advanced studies at Central Saint Martins in London and the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, she built a strong foundation that led to her own bridalwear brand, Madore, and her RTW label, FOUR28.
As a proud transgender woman, Floresca has also used her platform to champion LGBTQIA+ rights and equality.
“Fashion is a business, and winning ‘Project Runway’ gives me the chance to grow and create clothes for people everywhere. This is just the start,” she said.
From Bangkok to New York, Kirk Bondad and Veejay Floresca stand tall and proud, proving once again that Filipinos can shine and lead on the global stage.
