It’s a chance any performer worth his salt will grab.
Singer-songwriter and OPM icon Ogie Alcasid considers it a great honor to share the stage with remarkable musicians and composers Louie Ocampo and National Artist Ryan Cayabyab for “OAC: Original and Absolute Classics,” happening on February 13 at the Solaire Resort North Grand Ballroom.
But aside from being pillars in the local music industry, the three men are also friends who have shared conversations about lfie over a bottle or two.
At the recent press conference for “OAC: Original and Absolute Classics,” Ogie opened up about how anyone in the music industry would feel performing alongside Louie and Mr. C — as Maestro Ryan is affectionately known.
“Kasi actually, nagda-daydream rin ako nito. These past few days, you know how you think about your concert, you daydream? I was imagining myself on stage with them playing their keys. Sobrang saya nun,” he shared.
Louie and Mr. C are equally thrilled, praising Ogie’s creativity in composing songs of longing and his wit and humor, noting his gift for comedy alongside his musicality.
Ogie also spoke about his “epiphany,” revealing how, aside from their musical gifts, he, Louie, and Ryan share another bond — being family men who deeply understand love and loss.
“I just came from Australia, where I had to pay my respects to a relative who passed away. At the same time, we also found a venue for my daughter’s wedding. And just recently, I attended Louie O’s daughter’s wedding,” Ogie shared.
“So I was reflecting on it… mga tatay kami. When I saw Louie at his daughter’s wedding, he was crying so much. He was really emotional. I was also emotional, heading to the venue where my daughter’s wedding will be held. I thought, ganito pala ‘yun. We’re men who’ve experienced life, and I’m beginning to follow in their footsteps. And I think that’s what binds us — we’re husbands, we’re dads, and we’re very romantic people in every sense of the word.”
Expect “OAC: Original and Absolute Classics” to be a sentimental evening, where these three men will take the audience on a musical journey of love and longing — not just the romantic kind, but also the familial, and the personal kind.
