Keempee de Leon is mum about the upcoming Darryl Yap movie regarding Pepsi Paloma.
“I’m not in a position to say anything about it kasi honestly wala naman akong alam dyan,” he said.
At the press con of “Prinsesa ng City Jail,” where he plays a jail warden, the actor said he does not want to comment on the recent teaser from the controversial director.
“I’d rather stay quiet kasi mahirap kasi,” he reiterated.
“Nung una kong narinig yan, sinabi ko, bakit kailangan nilang gawin ito? Dahil ba eleksyon? Si Tito Sen tatakbo?” he commented.
“Kumbaga patay na, bubuhayin pa…” he added.
“Medyo nakakagulat kasi nananahimik mga tao… sana alamin muna nila. Ala, ganun talaga,” he continued.
Keempee would rather focus on his renewed relationship with his parents. The actor related how he reconciled with his dad, Joey de Leon, during Father’s Day 2024. He mentioned how he got depressed after he lost his job during the pandemic and lost touch with his family.
“Walang connection… Until such time, Born Again Christian ako, until realization na pina-realize ng Diyos sa akin, ano ba ang pagkakamali, ano ang tamang ginawa ko? Kinulong ko sarili ko ilang years, so eto last June, Father’s Day. [Narealize ko tanggalin pride, isa sa pinakamakasalanang ugali ng tao. Tinanggal ko ‘yun, kinain ko,” he confessed.
What followed was a reconciliation between father and son that was beautiful, touching, and full of tears—with some comedy sprinkled in as Keempee recalled the door hitting his dad’s leg as his brother Jako entered the room where he and Joey were in a tight embrace.
“Sorry, nasira ko ‘yung moment n’yo,” Kempee recalled Jako saying.
Keempee also related his reconnection with his mom, actress Daria Ramirez, after two years of no communication.
Now, he only feels joy as he deeply appreciates family ties and the healing power of forgiveness.
This same joy he brings to work, as he stars as the tatay-tatayan of Sofia Pablo in GMA’s new afternoon soap, “Prinsesa ng City Jail.”
Joining Kempee and Sofia in the cast of the crime drama are Allen Ansay, Dominic Ochoa, Denise Laurel, and Beauty Gonzalez.
Directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng, “Prinsesa ng City Jail” airs from Mondays to Fridays at 3:20 p.m. on GMA, starting January 13.
