The New Channel (TNC), in collaboration with True Creators Studios and Praxis, turned SM GenSan into the most exciting site for the Karaoke World Championships 2024 Mindanao last July 13. The stage was set with electrifying performances by aspiring singers from across the region, all vying for a spot in the national finals.

The competition was a fierce battle of vocal prowess and stage presence. Contestants from various parts of Mindanao showcased their exceptional singing talents, bringing their unique styles and passions to the stage.

From a pool of talented auditionees, the competition narrowed to the top 11 contenders. The judges, including KWC Philippines co-producers Apple Manasala of TNC, Gladys Basinillio of Praxis, and Mercy Joy Mesina of True Creator Studios, along with General Santos City’s head of Tourism, Iords Yuson, had a tough time deliberating as each contestant brought their A-game.

Ultimately, Mary Joy Parasan, a 21-year-old third-year college student at Mindanao State University, won with her stunning performance and powerful rendition of “Amakabogera.” Her exceptional vocal range, combined with her captivating stage presence, undeniably captured the hearts of the judges and the audience alike. Her victory brings pride to Mindanao and secures her spot in the national finals. Following closely behind her were Sheryll Donne Garcia and Jaivan Bansuan, who secured the first and second runner-up positions, respectively.

The success of this event would not have been possible without the generous support of brand partners and sponsors, including SM Online, Sante Barley Max, Hapee Toothpaste, Everest Appliances, Katinko, Unisol, Quanta, Tiffany Chocolates, the General Santos City Tourism Office, and KWC’s home venue, SM Supermalls.

As the auditions continue across the Philippines, the excitement builds for what promises to be an unforgettable Karaoke World Championships 2024. The schedule for other auditions is as follows: SM City Cebu on July 21, SM Pampanga on July 27, and SM North EDSA Skydome on August 3.

During the grand finals, the audience and contestants will be treated to a concert featuring guest performances from Nyoy Volante, Hazel Faith, and Maki, among others, happening on August 16 at the SM North EDSA Skydome.
