Multi-awarded journalist Kara David marked her 30th year with GMA Network on July 8, 2025, by renewing her contract and launching her latest project, I-Listen, a podcast under GMA Public Affairs.
In a ceremony attended by GMA executives and longtime colleagues, Kara was honored for her decades of impactful storytelling. GMA Chairman Atty.
President and CEO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. echoed the praise: “The contribution of Kara cannot be measured… We are privileged, honored, happy na si Kara ay isang Kapuso at mananatili pang Kapuso.”
Overcome with emotion, Kara expressed her gratitude: “Thank you, GMA, for giving me a chance when nobody else wanted to. Thank you for allowing me to tell stories that help people. ‘Yun naman ang tatak ng Serbisyong Totoo.”
Known for her work on I-Witness, Brigada, and Pinas Sarap, Kara has earned numerous accolades including a George Foster Peabody Award and the UNICEF Child Rights Award. She also founded Project Malasakit, a scholarship initiative inspired by the subjects of her documentaries.
GMA Public Affairs surprised Kara with a live storybook tribute and announced the launch of I-Listen, a podcast featuring raw, heartfelt stories of Filipinos. The show will soon stream on GMA Public Affairs’ platforms, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
