“Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” (KMJS) remains the Philippines’ #1 TV show in 2024, marking its 20th anniversary with billions of views across digital platforms.
Nielsen data snhows KMJS topping the ratings with a 14.3% people rating nationwide (Urban and Rural). On GMA alone, the show achieved 12.9%, holding the top spot in Urban Philippines throughout 2024 with an average rating of 14.4%.
Jessica Soho is overwhelmed by the achievement. “To be rated the most watched Philippine TV program is a huge blessing, especially on our 20th year! I owe this to my excellent staff and to all our viewers and followers! Maraming, maraming salamat po na tayo pa rin ang magka-kuwentuhan tuwing Linggo ng gabi sa nakalipas na dalawang dekada.”
In 2025, Soho celebrates her 40th year in broadcasting. KMJS will air a special episode reflecting on her career, and the show’s popular “Gabi ng Lagim: The Movie” will premiere. KMJS also reached 4.7 billion views across digital platforms in 2024, solidifying its global impact.
Just recently, Jessica was recognized for her integrity and excellence as a journalist by the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) at their annual Chinese New Year celebration held in Pasay.
Jessica, in an interview, said she was 25% Chinese. In her quest to honor her ancestors, she even traced her roots in China and created a TV documentary showing her late grandfather’s village in Guangdong province, China.
Aside from Jessica, beauty queen Michelle Dee and singer-composer Jose Mari Chan were also honored. Meanwhile, National Artist for Broadcast Ricky Lee, who is a son of immigrants from Fujian province, was present at the FFCCCII event to receive his recognition. Lee is an outstanding scriptwriter, playwright, novelist, journalist, and educator. His late father Lee Hian Chin was secretary-general of the Camarines Norte Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
Renowned Cebuano designer Kennethe Cobunpue was also cited by the chamber for his contribution to local craftsmanship and for shining light to the country’s industrial design in furniture. Former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos was also recognized for her pivotal role in establishing Philippines-China diplomatic relations in 1975. The 96-year-old Imelda Marcos was represented by her daughter Senator Imee Marcos, who delivered an inspirational speech extolling the bond of friendship between Filipinos and Chinese peoples.
Dr. Cecilio K. Pedro, FFCCCII president, led the group’s annual Chinese New Year celebration and special awards ceremony last January 29 at the Golden Bay Seafood Restaurant on Macapagal Avenue in Pasay.
