Actress and TV host Maja Salvador is embracing new beginnings — not just as a first-time mom, but now as a beauty entrepreneur.
Last May 23, Maja launched Majeskin, a body care brand she co-founded with beauty mogul Rhea Anicoche-Tan, president and CEO of Beautéderm Corporation.
The event was held at Incanta Cave Bar in Quezon City and gathered friends, celebrity endorsers, members of the media and partners in the beauty and wellness industry.
The product line introduces two key variants — Calming (Chamomile scent) and Nourishing (Milk scent) — each with a body wash, scrub, and lotion. Infused with skin-loving ingredients like hyaluronic acid, collagen, niacinamide, arbutin, botanical extracts, goat milk and aloe vera, Majeskin aims to promote a sense of calm, beauty and daily luxury.
“This is truly a dream come true,” said Maja. “Ang dami kong idea, pero hindi ko nagagawa. Natatakot ako. But with the help nga of my husband, mga kaibigan ko and my Manang Rei, ito na nga siya — naisakatuparan ko na.”
Rhea Tan, who is also the ninang sa kasal of Maja and husband Rambo Nuñez, revealed that this partnership is a first for her. “In my sixteen years, I’ve never had a business partner,” she said. “It’s my first time to be a financier.”
She recalled how personally invested Maja and Rambo were in building the brand, even while the couple were still in Canada, where their daughter Maria was born. “Everything, idea talaga ng dalawa. Even sa Canada, wala kaming ginawa kundi mag-video call. Binibilang pa niya kung kailan siya magpapapayat,” Rhea Tan said, laughing.
The beauty magnate valued not only the couple’s input but also trust. “Mommy, tayo na lang kaya?” she recalled Maja’s playful but sincere suggestion to partner up. “Yun pa lang na part na ‘yun, na they considered me, at ‘yung power ni Maja — mas sisipagan kasi ng artista kasi negosyo namin ito, ‘di ba?”
At the launch, Maja also opened up for the first time about her experience with postpartum depression after giving birth to daughter Maria last year, May 31. She described how the emotional toll of early motherhood took her by surprise.
“Mahaba ang pasensiya ko before, tapos biglang parang maliit na bagay, pumipitik ka. Parang, ‘Sino ’yon?’ Hindi ako ’yon,” she admitted. “And then, buti na lang ’yung husband ko, pamilya ko, naroon sila. Sinasabi nila, ‘Relax, take a deep breath. Kung ano ’yung napi-feel mo, it’s fine.’ Ang daming nangyari sa ’yo, hindi biro.”
Maja shared that the trauma of a 30-hour labor in Canada, the challenges of breastfeeding and eventually losing her milk supply after eight months added to her emotional struggles. She turned to self-care and the dream of Majeskin to help herself heal.
“Na-depress ako nang matigil ang pagbi-breastfeed. Pero itong Majeskin, nakatulong talaga siya sa mental health ko.”
According to Rhea Tan, Maja had already expressed her love for body scrubs and her desire to launch a skincare line even before they became close. “Dalaga pa lang si Maja, naikuwento na niya ’yung hilig niya sa body scrub at ang gusto niyang magnegosyo tungkol dito,” she said.
Maja and Rambo personally sought Rhea’s blessing and guidance to finally bring the idea to life.
The collaboration is also a celebration of their genuine friendship. “Maja and I have always wanted to work together. When queens unite, they create something majestic,” said Tan. “Maja embodies everything a queen should be: authentic, determined, passionate, and creative. And as beauty entrepreneurs, we must not just serve ‘face cards’ but also deliver a glow that extends beyond the surface.”
Among those who came out to support Salvador’s new venture were Maine Mendoza, Ciara Sotto, Bulacan Vice Governor Alex Castro, Sunshine Garcia, Darla Sauler, Thia Thomalla, Thou Reyes, Gillian Vicencio and more.
