‘Hello’ from Hong Kong to Canada

It’s a wish fulfilled for actor Alden Richards as the sequel to the mega-hit “Hello, Love, Goodbye” is finally happening. ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema and GMA Pictures are collaborating for the first time to produce “Hello, Love, Again,” the eagerly awaited sequel.

Returning to their iconic roles as Joy and Ethan are Kathryn Bernardo of ABS-CBN and Alden Richards of GMA. “Hello, Love, Again” continues the story of Ethan and Joy, two OFWs who met in Hong Kong and fell in love at the wrong time. The two meet again in Canada five years later.

The sequel will once again be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, known for her work on the original film.

“Parang panaginip,” said Alden, “Hindi pa rin po kami makapaniwala.”

The announcement was made on May 19, with top executives from ABS-CBN and GMA in attendance, including ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, ABS-CBN COO Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN Film Productions head Kriz Gazmen, and GMA Films president and CEO Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes.

“Hello, Love, Again” will premiere in the Philippines on November 13, 2024, with international releases to follow.

Star Cinema has a rich history of depicting Filipino life and the diaspora, with notable films such as “Anak,” “Barcelona: A Love Untold,” “Caregiver,” “Dubai,” “In the Name of Love,” and “Milan.” Additionally, it co-produced “Rewind,” the highest-grossing Filipino film to date, alongside APT Entertainment and Agosto Dos Pictures.

GMA Pictures is renowned for its impactful films addressing critical social issues in the Philippines. It has produced acclaimed movies such as “Muro Ami,” “Deathrow,” and the historical drama “Jose Rizal,” as well as popular titles like “Let The Love Begin” and “Ang Panday.” Its recent release, “Firefly,” won Best Picture at the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.
