GMA Network’s advocacy campaign Panata Kontra-Fake News was named Best Multi-Platform Campaign at the Asia Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards held at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in Singapore.
Launched on National Press Freedom Day 2024, Panata Kontra-Fake News promotes media literacy, truth-telling, and critical thinking. It is led by GMA Integrated News in partnership with organizations in media, education, and technology.
The campaign mobilized nearly 60 partner groups through a landmark MOA signing, alongside fact-checking drives and the GMA Masterclass: Eleksyon 2025 “Dapat Totoo” series, which reached over 12,000 students nationwide.
Using TV, radio and digital platforms, the campaign delivered special reports, interactive content, and immersive storytelling aimed at helping Filipinos detect and combat disinformation.
“This international recognition is both an honor and a call to action,” said Oliver Victor B. Amoroso, GMA senior vice president and head of Integrated News, Regional TV and Synergy. “Panata Kontra-Fake News reflects our unwavering commitment to credible journalism and to working with communities and institutions to protect the truth. This award belongs to every journalist, partner and Filipino who believes that facts matter.”
The campaign drew strong support from academic institutions, media groups, and tech companies that helped expand its reach and impact.
The Asia Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards honors excellence in content, innovation, and digital transformation across the region.
