Gerald Anderson takes on a dream project on his return to television. The actor is set to star in the new ABS-CBN series “Nobody,” produced by JRB Creative Productions.

Marking his 18th year with ABS-CBN, Gerald expressed his enthusiasm for “Nobody,” calling it a “dream project” that beautifully blends action with emotional depth. He will play a law enforcement officer, and has been taking specialized training to develop skills such as marksmanship.

“Nobody,” said Gerald, revolves around themes of sacrifice, loyalty, and family. It is inspired by real-life events in the country and aims to inspire.

During the press conference, Gerald discussed his recent viral videos that captured him rescuing individuals stranded by floods during Typhoon Gaemi (Carina). He modestly dismissed the notion of heroism, stating that he simply did what felt right. He recounted how he was preparing to move his motorcycles to safety when he decided to join rescue workers passing by his home. While his motorcycles were damaged, he emphasized that assisting the flood victims was more important.

When questioned about a potential political career, Gerald expressed that he finds fulfillment in helping others without holding a public office. He acknowledged the advantages of being a celebrity, which allows him to wield influence for positive change.

“Aaminin ko may mga kaibigan din akong pulitiko … dahil sa mga ibang projects na ginagawa ko. ‘Yung power talaga is there if gusto mo talaga tumulong, at mas impactful at mas andun ‘yung power talaga, andun ‘yung opportunities. But ang swerte ko lang kasi, dahil sa pagiging celebrity, andun din ‘yung power, andun din ‘yung influence at ginagamit ko lang sa tama. I mean, sabi ko, kung hindi ako artista, sa tingin mo mag trending ‘yung ginawa ko? Hindi, ‘di ba? Kasi maraming gumawa nyan. Nagkataon artista ako, na picturan, na videohan, but that also inspired so many other people.”

However, he does not consider himself a hero, saying that there are many others who deserve that recognition.

“Mas maraming mga totoong bayani dyan,” he said, “Sabi ko nga kanina, through this show ikukwento ko ‘yung kwento nila. Ikukwento ko ‘yung mga sitwasyon nila sa buhay.

Ikukwento namin ‘yung sitwasyon ng pamilya nila kapag nasa panganib ‘yung mga totoong bayani.”

Gerald also shared touching anecdotes about his personal heroes–his parents–who have profoundly shaped his values of generosity and compassion. He spoke of his mother’s selflessness, recalling how he witnessed her pawning her possessions to help others, and his father’s 30-year service in the US Navy. Although he didn’t follow in his father’s footsteps, Gerald expressed pride in portraying heroes through his acting roles, with Nobody as the latest showcase of his dedication to both his craft and making a positive impact in the community.

Nobody director Benedict Mique (“M.L.,” “Lolo and the Kid,” and “Monday First Screening”) praised Gerald for his invaluable input and work ethic. “Madaling mag-prepare kasi si Ge, very hardworking,” Mique said. “First time ko siyang makatrabaho, and during our first brainstorming session, I realized he’s a genuinely good person. He has bright ideas, especially in filmmaking. Marami siyang magagandang input.”

Mique is excited to present a brand-new Gerald, unlike anything the audience has seen before. “I want Gerald to be the heart of the story. Usually, he plays the tough guy, but I want him to be the heart – pero siya rin ang sumusuntok, which is a great combination. A character with heart, but also a fighter.”

The director also quickly dismissed comparisons to Coco Martin’s primetime hit “Batang Quiapo,” stating, “I’m sure this is different. Lahat sila gigil, kami iba. Iba ‘to sa lahat.”

He added, “I want it to be emotional, but not overly dramatic. I want families to relate because it’s a family story first and foremost – na maraming gulpihan at barilan.”
