Actor Gabby Concepcion, who once aspired to be a pilot, has had a diverse career path. Due to poor eyesight, his dream of flying was never realized, but his ex-wife Sharon Cuneta gifted him special eyeglasses for color blindness, which he now regularly uses. “Sharon made me wear those glasses para makita ko daw siya ng malinaw,” he shared. “I really appreciate those glasses because I really can’t identify green without them. With those glasses, I can see the colors better.”

Aside from acting, Gabby also dreamed of becoming a dentist and a successful real estate broker, the latter of which he pursued while living in the US for several years. “Acting, showbiz, and singing, those are in my bucket list,” he said. When not working, he enjoys nature and the beach, especially in Lobo, Batangas. “Life is short. Enjoy every moment,” he added.

Gabby’s friendship with Sharon was reignited during their “Dear Heart” concert tour in the US and Canada last year, but they will not be touring again this year. Gabby is focused on a teleserye that will keep him busy until November. “I need to work on that. I need to finish that. We will tape four times a week,” he explained. Gabby also revealed that there are no plans for a new film this year due to a lack of a compelling script. “There’s no oomph factor to me,” he said.

Politics has also been a topic of discussion for Gabby. In 1988, he ran for mayor in San Juan, but he has no intentions of running again. “Politics was actually a dream once upon a time. Pero hindi ko tinuloy, because I didn’t find the urge. Many are still inviting me to run. But politics is very sensitive. Mas gusto ko ang tahimik na buhay,” he shared.

Turning 60 in November, Gabby reflected on life and aging. “I don’t know what mid-life crisis is,” he admitted. “I take things lightly. I always remember what my father told me. ‘Nandyan ka na lang din, galingan mo na.’” He also emphasized the importance of living without regret. “Life is short. We need to do the best we can while we have the time.”

Despite being in his senior years, Gabby remains a sought-after leading man in local showbiz, known for his good looks and fitness. As a champion for wellness, Gabby is an ambassador for the mWell “Healthy is the New Handsome” campaign. “My advocacy is to promote the capacity of wellness,” he explained. “It’s not only about this gadget, but part of the umbrella of wellness. Everybody will get the chance to have better medical and health opportunities.”

Gabby also recently launched his personalized mWell watches, which help monitor health metrics like sleep. “I used to have a smart watch, but I found out, limited ang features,” he noted. “Healthy is the new interpretation of looking good or being handsome.”

Gabby’s eldest daughter, KC, will turn 40 this April. Despite her age, he still sees her as his little girl. “To me, KC is still 12 years old. She will always be my baby,” he said. While they don’t have big plans for her birthday, they often spend quality time together in Lobo, Batangas. KC also enjoys bonding there with her half-sisters, Maria Samantha and Mari Savannah.

KC introduces some of the guys she is dating to her dad. “What is important to me, the point na parang nililigawan din ako,” Gabby said. “Ang sarap ng feeling if a guy tells me he’s going out with my daughter. One hundred points sa akin ‘yun.”

Did anybody get 100 points from Gabby when it comes to the guys KC got into a relationship with or even just courting her?

“Actually meron na,” he revealed. “Non-showbiz.”
