Talent manager, columnist and the “Dean of Entertainment Press” Ethelwolda Ramos passed away quietly yesterday. She was 87.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dearest Tita Ethel Ramos today, September 10, 5:38 p.m.,” the statement from her family read.

Ramos, a household name in the world of journalism and entertainment, graced the pages of Malaya Business Insight for decades, where her “Studio Whispers” column chronicled the lives and stories of the country’s brightest stars.
Beyond her work as a prolific columnist, she was a visionary talent manager who played an instrumental role in shaping the careers of some of the Philippines’ biggest stars, including Aga Muhlach, Gretchen Barretto, and Angel Locsin.
Ramos was not only a talent manager but also a trusted confidante and mentor to the artists she represented. One of her closest “anak anakan” was actor-politician Bong Revilla.
Senator Bong took to social media to express his grief over her demise.
“Tayo po ay nagluluksa sa pagpanaw ng isa sa ating pinakamamahal at pinagkakautangan ng napakalaking utang na loob – Manay Ethel Ramos.
“Napakasakit Manay. Para akong nawalan ulit ng isang ina, dahil isa ka sa tumatayong nanay ko sa aking pag-aartista,” he wrote.
“Maraming salamat sa iyong pagmamahal at pag gabay mula sa aking pagkabata hanggang sa ngayong iyong pamamaalam.”
Details of Ramos’ wake have yet to be announced.
Ethel Ramos is survived by her siblings, nephews, nieces and a grateful industry, including the countless stars whose lives she touched, and her readers who will forever cherish her words.
