The CinePanalo Film Festival, presented by Puregold, is witnessing a surge in submissions as the deadline of October 27 draws near.
Aspiring Filipino filmmakers, eager to make their mark, have been racing against time to submit their entries, aiming to inspire through their storytelling. Puregold reports a substantial number of entries already received and anticipates even more as the submission deadline approaches.
Each entry for the film fest must be wholesome, inspiring, and be family-oriented, centered around the theme “Mga Kwentong Panalo ng Buhay” (Winning Life Stories). This theme aligns with Puregold’s commitment to celebrating the everyday victories in Filipino life.
The festival is open for submissions from both students and campus filmmakers, as well as amateur and professional filmmakers, offering financial grants to selected individuals to bring their visions to life. In the full-length category, five amateur or professional directors will each receive a grant of P2,500,000, while 25 campus-based directors will receive a P100,000 grant each for the short film category. Selected full-length entries will also benefit from free color grading provided by the festival’s official partner, Optima Digital.
Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, Puregold senior manager for Marketing, hopes the festival will ignite the creativity of young Pinoys, saying, “Seeing all these enthusiastic young filmmakers submitting their entries and pursuing their dreams is a winning story in itself. We are excited to review and deliberate on all the entries as we bring the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival to life.”
Filmmakers interested in participating have until October 27 to submit their story concepts.
Submission requirements include a completed entry form, a synopsis of no more than 300 words, a detailed sequence treatment, a director’s resume with links to sample works (if available), and a digital copy of the director’s profile photo. These documents should be emailed to thesecretariat@cinepanalo.com to receive the necessary materials to apply for the grant.
Once chosen, Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival participants are required to submit their fully produced film on or before March 1, 2024. All final submissions in the short film category must have a minimum runtime of 20 minutes and a maximum runtime of 30 minutes. All feature film submissions must be at least 90 minutes long. Each entry will be screened during the Festival, which is set to take place from March 8-10, 2024 at the Gateway Cinemas in Cubao, Quezon City.
Short film entries will also be given the privilege of access to Puregold’s wide social media audience, with each entry being uploaded to Puregold Channel on YouTube. The channel is host to Puregold’s successful digital series that include “GV Boys,” “Ang Babae sa Likod ng Face Mask,” “52 Weeks,” and “Ang Lalaki sa Likod ng Profile.”
