Double triumph at 6th Eddys

‘Blue Room,’ ‘Family Matters’ clinch best film;
Max Eigenmann, Janine Gutierrez tie for best actress

The 6th Eddys, hosted by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), unfolded at the Aliw Theater in Pasay on Sunday November 26, spotlighting exceptional achievements in Filipino filmmaking over the past year. The evening’s highlight was the unprecedented twin wins, with “Blue Room” and “Family Matters” sharing the Best Film accolade, while actresses Max Eigenmann and Janine Gutierrez made history by tying for the Best Actress award.

Max and Janine received the award for their performances in “12 Weeks” and “Bakit ‘Di Mo Sabihin?”, respectively.

Nuel Crisostomo Naval’s direction in “Family Matters” earned him the Best Director accolade. Elijah Canlas secured the Best Actor award for his “Blue Room” performance.

In the supporting acting category, the winners were Nikki Valdez for “Family Matters” and Mon Confiado for “Nanahimik ang Gabi.”

Creative excellence was celebrated across various categories, with Mel Mendoza del Rosario’s screenplay for “Family Matters” winning Best Screenplay and Moises Zee’s cinematography in “Nanahimik ang Gabi” earning the Best Cinematography award. Marxie Maolen Fadul’s production design for “Blue Room” and Vanessa de Leon’s editing in the same film were recognized with the Best Production Design and Best Editing awards, respectively.

The musical talents behind the films were acknowledged, with Jazz Nicolas and Mikey Amistoso’s score for “Blue Room” winning Best Musical Score, and Andrea Teresa Idioma and Emilio Bien Sparks’ sound design in “Nanahimik ang Gabi” receiving the Best Sound award.

Beyond the awards, the Eddys paid homage to the luminaries of Philippine cinema. Aga Muhlach, Niño Muhlach, and Snooky Serna were honored with the Movie Icon award, recognizing their enduring impact on the industry. The Isah V. Red Award went to Herbert Bautista, Coco Martin, and Piolo Pascual for their support and inspiration to fellow Filipinos.

Aster Amoyo received the Joe Quirino Award for her contributions to the entertainment industry, and veteran writer Ed de Leon was honored with the Manny Pichel Award for his exceptional work.

Institutional recognition was extended to Viva Films, named Producer of the Year, and MavX Productions, acknowledged as the Rising Producer of the Year.

Directed by Eric Quizon and hosted by Piolo Pascual and Iza Calzado, the event featured performances by Pops Fernandez, Darren Espanto, Erik Santos, Jamie Rivera, and P-pop group Calista.

Supported by Globe Telecom, Shopee, and Beautederm, the event’s integrity was ensured by the auditing firm of Juancho Robles, Chan Robles & Company, CPAs.

Presented by SPEED in partnership with Airtime Marketing Philippines as producer, The 6th Eddys will be broadcasted on a delayed telecast on December 2 on A2Z.
