Two of the most respected names in the entertainment industry today, veteran actress and BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee Dolly de Leon and local cinema’s prized gem, Kathryn Bernardo, collaborate in the much-anticipated Star Cinema production titled “A Very Good Girl.”

This partnership between two powerhouse actresses has excited showbiz. At the movie’s press con last August 23, Kathryn opened up about wanting to do projects without a partner. With her reel and real partner, actor Daniel Padilla’s blessing, she informed her management of her desire to explore roles she has never done before. She was excited when presented with “A Very Good Girl,” but even more thrilled when she was told that the production is eyeing Dolly to be Kathryn’s co-actor.

Well, Dolly, known for her breakout performance in the Palme d’Or winner, “A Triangle of Sadness,” liked the material – but wanted to know who was on board to play her co-star.

“When they said Kathryn – Oh my God – yes! Gusto ko ito gawin,” Dolly recalled.

“I’ve admired her for a long time na. Sa ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ ang husay niya dun. When I met her again, I was so nervous actually to meet her.”

The two had actually worked together before. De Leon and Bernardo were in a GMA series years ago. But as Kathryn was a child then, De Leon’s interaction was with Kathryn’s mom, Min.

Now, Kathryn and Dolly are ready to showcase their electrifying performances of revenge seeker Philo and the filthy rich Mother Molly in Star Cinema’s 30th anniversary kick-off film.

Kathryn revealed she did feel she had to step up a notch knowing she would be acting alongside a renowned actress.

“Na-pressure talaga ako, which was a good kind of pressure,” she admitted, adding that the veteran actress did not make her feel inadequate.

“She was very supportive. Na-intimidate ako, pero napalitan naman agad ng good kind of pressure [becauseI I want to be good para maging worth it ang pag agree ni Ms. D na tanggapin ang pelikulang ito.”
