The Barretto family has long been a source of controversy in showbiz, with their personal lives frequently making headlines. Last Tuesday’s wedding of singer Claudia Barretto to Basti Lorenzo added yet another chapter to their history, but this time, the spotlight was on actor Dennis Padilla.

In a phone patch interview that was released last Wednesday on Ogie Diaz’s Youtube vlog, “Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update,” Dennis shared how the events surrounding his daughter Claudia’s wedding marked a painful turning point in his relationship with his children from his relationship to Marjorie Barretto.

According to Dennis, Dennis met with Claudia and her fiancé, Basti weeks before the wedding. On March 18, they had dinner together, where Claudia expressed that she wanted her father to “look good” at the wedding. Later, Dennis shared that he sent his address to Claudia and Leon in the hopes of receiving an official invitation but never received a reply. He only got details of the wedding through Viber. On the morning of the wedding, a tearful Claudia called Dennis, saying that the wedding might not happen. Dennis speculated she said this to prevent him from attending. He arrived early with his brother Gene and their mother, only to find that there was no clear seating arrangement for them and was told he could sit with the ninongs if he liked. Dennis did not.

During the ceremony, it was Claudia’s mother, Marjorie Barretto, who walked her down the aisle. Dennis revealed that his mother was crying at the church. After the ceremony, Dennis and his brother Gene and mom opted to leave, though they were later told that Claudia wanted a photo with her dad. Dennis complied, but after the photo, he and his family chose not to attend the reception.

Dennis said that during the reconciliation dinner with Claudia, he thought he would be walking her down the aisle, but this did not materialize. He admitted that had he known he was not part of the program, he might have reconsidered attending the wedding at all.

Dennis also shared an upsetting story about Claudia’s aunt and Marjorie’s sister Claudine Barretto. According to him, Claudine had sent a message to offer a gift for Claudia, but she was blocked her when she reached out. Dennis felt that Claudine, as an aunt, should have attended the wedding regardless of the formal invitation.

After everything, Dennis made it clear that he was no longer trying to “win over” his children. He stated that he had already apologized publicly and privately to them, to Marjorie, and even to the boyfriends of his children, but he felt that his efforts had been in vain. He admitted that, after this experience, he had decided to sever ties with them. He said he has taken down all his messages on social media for his kids with Marjorie, and will henceforth focus on his other kids, especially the two youngest ones.

Meanwhile, Claudia’s sister Dani Barretto took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message for the newlyweds, celebrating their commitment and offering her best wishes for a lifetime of happiness. “Congratulations on this incredible milestone, 10 years in the making. Your love, patience, and commitment have brought you to this moment, and it’s truly something to be celebrated.

“Savor every second, hold each other a little tighter, and let your hearts be full. This day is yours, soak in all the joy, the laughter, the love. You deserve every bit of it.

“Don’t let anything or anyone dim the light of this moment. It’s your story, your love, and your forever beginning.

“I wish you both a lifetime of happiness, adventure, and love that only grows deeper with time.

“I love you more than words can ever express @claudia ”
